#8 Your turn to share....
Many of you have attended various women’s events through the years, for others Deeper Still will be your first women’s event in a large venue. We would love for some of the “veterans to pass along your helpful hints to the “rookies. My helpful hint: bring an extra pair of shoes! You never realize how much walking, climbing stairs, and running around hotel hallways at night will wear out your feet. The change of shoes provides a little relief. And hey, you never can have too many shoes!
What are your helpful hints?

I agree with Patty in that checking out the local area is very important. Make sure that you and your group have decided how you're going to handle the lunch meal. It's VERY, VERY busy at lunchtime and the meals in the conference center pack a punch to the wallet. Even though there are lots of places to eat around the area, you have to walk a ways. I also agree with Patty and Priscilla and focus on COMFORT! Comfortable shoes and clothes--it may be too cool or warm in the conference center--will help your experience praising and learning more about God that much easier! My last suggestion: just smile and have fun! Don't forget to joke around!!! :)

Come prepared seeking a word from God. He will speak through the speakers, music, friends and people you meet @ this exciting event. Several years we packed lunches and this allowed time to purchase cds, books and t-shirts instead of standing in line for food.

Oh this is such a hard one but GET SOME SLEEP! :) Have fun with your girlfriends -- it is so great to be able to do that, but don't forget that you have an entire day of sessions on Saturday to sit through. As exciting as Beth, Kay and Priscilla are, I don't want to miss a thing by feeling so fatigued because I only slept 1 1/2 hours the night before. Starbucks will do wonders for those with sleep deprivation, but it can only do so much! :)
(Wow -- this is such a downer of a hint, but I promise you will not regret it!!)
Blessings,
Dori

Patty - you mentioned getting in line early and using your blanket. How early does someone suggest getting inline to get a good seat? I want to get the best possible seat!

Well, lets see.....I have been attending events for 7 years now and you do learn things over the years. If you are like me and you love getting in line early, bring a blanket to sit on. Keep things simple in what you bring. A Bible, pens, and LifeWay provides notebooks or programs with places to take plenty of notes. I always keep it light in my book bag when I am at a conference. Don't be afraid to use the men's bathrooms that have been converted to women's bathrooms for the length of the conference. The lines are shorter. I always get my seat and go shopping at the Lifeway tables before the event starts. During break the lines are a lot longer. I keep a bottle of water with me and maybe crackers etc... if I get hungry while waiting in line to get in. I go for comfort. Wear a comfy pair of shoes. Before I go anywhere I check out the city online and do research on places to eat etc.... that is why I love this blog. We need to hear from people in the area. Have fun!!!
