# 9 Let’s Do Lunch!

Hey girls! If I were to give you one piece of advice for Deeper Still lunch break on Saturday, it would be to have a plan. So, here are a few suggestions:

Plan a picnic. Bring a lunch in a cooler and leave it in your car. Then at the lunch break you can grab your lunch and drink out of the car and relax in any of the green spaces in downtown Nashville. You really don’t want to

get in your car, lose your parking space, and drive around looking for a place to eat lunch especially if you don’t know the downtown area.

Walk it. Downtown Nashville is nice and safe to walk to any number of great restaurants. Again, if you just leave the car or van parked you will have a much more relaxed lunch break. However, go ahead and read through the list of restaurants and make a list of your top three. If you narrow down your list in advance you will not end up walking aimlessly through the streets of downtown Nashville.

Map it and check it out online. Grab a map of downtown Nashville in advance. Check out where your choice is located in relation to the Sommet. Also, check out their menu choices and pricing in advance online or through quick phone call. You might want to put the phone number of your top three restaurants in your cell just in case you need additional directions or one location is particularly busy…with a lot of Bible toting women in Capri pants!

Room Service. If you will be staying in a hotel downtown through Saturday night, you might want to order room service to be delivered during the lunch break. You can run back to your room eat and freshen up before returning to the Sommet for the afternoon.

Relax. Enjoy your lunch break. You have plenty of time to walk to the different locations listed below, eat your lunch while laughing with your friends, and walk it off on the return trip to the Sommet.

There are so many great places to eat in Nashville. But if I were making my plan for the weekend, these would be my top three…

  1. San Antonio Taco Company…my favorite kind of food. I just love a good taco. SAT Co is a walk up and order kind of place. Even if there is a line, it will be relatively fast to get in and out. If needed, you can take it to go.

  2. Jack’s Bar-B-Que…Joe’s favorite place (my husband) I think he actually goes to Jack’s at least once a week. He has eaten at Jack’s so much he actually knows Jack! We now buy Jack’s Bar-B-Que Sauce and dry rub to use at home. Jack’s actually cooked my Thanksgiving turkey one year! Like SAT Co, Jack’s is cafeteria style ordering (the food is right in front of you so you can see what you are going to get). Jack’s will be fast and you can take it to go if you wish.

  3. Demos’ Steak and Spaghetti House…I love this place! The only reason I put it further down the list is because it is a “sit down restaurant. Demos is more than steak and spaghetti. They really have great variety on their menu and everyone will find something they like.

Check out the other options compiled by the Nashville Convention and Visitor's Bureau!

Don't forget that if you're not the adventurous kind - you can always get lunch at the one of the concessions at the Sommet. A little boring but will do the trick for an empty stomach and it's high on the convenience factor.

Breakfast is hard to find in downtown nashville but there is one place i know they have it. Paradise Park 411 Broadway just feet from the doors of Sommet. they are open 24 hours here is a link to their menu. the do have good sweet potatoe fries. http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=166174318&blogID=245907156

I think you can never go wrong with Broadway Brewhouse (yes brewhouse but good sweet tea) Located just 3 blocks away from Sommet. 317 Broad. Has everything to eat and has a huge dinning room.
or Big River Grill just past the Brewhouse on Second and Broad.
For all you Starbucks drinkers out there there is a one located on 5th and Church but it is closed on Saturdays i think... If you do want coffee there is a kiosk at the Renaissance hotel (Commerce St. between 5th and 6th ave. 2nd floor.

Good Luck Ladies you will love Nashville...

Hi!
I just came back from the Living Proof Event in Nashville. The event itself was wonderful and it was all I expected and more. I especially enjoyed Priscilla as it was the first time I had heard her speak!!!
I did want to say that we had a terrible time getting anything to eat for lunch on Saturday!!! I was with someone who could not eat concession stand type food because she had just gotten out of the hospital and needed "real" food, not nachos, hot dogs, or pizza. We went across the street to the Hilton with her in a wheelcahir, waited about 45 minutes in line for the buffet and just before we got to the buffet, they ran out of food. Now we are in search of another place to eat. By now every restaurant within walking distance is crowded and the overflow is out the doors. We decide to go back to the Sommet and at least get something to drink from the concession stand before the afternoon session. My friend in the wheelchair is taken back to the handicapped area while I wait about an hour because lines are so long getting only something to drink for my friend. (She will wait until supper for proper food) Plus I end up missing the first part of Kay Arthur's message for the afternoon session.
I just wondered why an event this large wasn't properly catered??? There were only two concession stands open and I saw only four people working the one I stood in line at for an hour. At least bottled water could have been offered at various places since we were unable to bring in outside foods.
Please take all these things in consideration for event planning in the future.

Many thanks for your efforts,
Linda D.
