Don't Miss a Thing!
As you gear up for Deeper Still: The Event we thought it would be good to remind you of a few things…so you don't miss a thing! If it is your first Christian women's event or even if you are a veteran, here are a few tips for making the most of your Deeper Still experience.
1. Pray. Begin praying now for yourself and the other women who will be attending. Please pray for Beth, Kay, Priscilla, Travis, the Praise team, the event and production teams with LifeWay. Click here to print a copy of the Atlanta Deeper Still Prayer Guide. Remember to join us in prayer this Thursday, June 5 while the Atlanta Prayer Walk is taking place in Atlanta at Mt. Paran Church. Also, plan to participate in prayer experience on the concourse during Deeper Still. (You will hear more about this later.)
Go to Mt. Paran's link for more detailed directions if you live in the Atlanta area and would like to participate in the prayer rally this Thursday.
2. Come early and/or stay late. Think through and finalize your travel plans and reservations early. The 24-hours from the beginning and end of Deeper Still: The Event are packed and will fly by. Atlanta is a beautiful city with lots of extra things to do. Plan to spend some extra time in this great city to tour or shop!
3. Engage in the event. Prepare now so you will be ready to focus totally on God and the experience with Him during Deeper Still: The Event. Plan now in order to be free from email, phone calls, text messages, and anything else that might distract you from what the Lord wants you to learn and experience during your time in Atlanta.
4. Allow extra time for everything. Whatever time you are "thinking" it will take you, pad it with an extra 30 minutes. Like any large event, give yourself extra time for travel, parking, hotel check in/check out, restroom and concession lines. Use the time in lines to visit with those around you, review your notes from the previous session, or memorize a scripture verse for the weekend.
5. Make the commitment to go deeper still…in your relationship with God and with others. Reconnect and re-energize your relationships. Instead of dreading the traffic or lines, look at it as opportunities to fellowship and build on your relationships with others. Expect God to do something great in your relationship with Him as you prepare for Deeper Still: The Event, during the weekend and after you return home. Trust Him and watch how He works as you commit to go deeper still!

What NOT to Wear!
I'm not sure how many of you have actually started your packing for Deeper Still: The Event in Atlanta...there are still 23 more shopping days available if you want to get a new outfit! However, if you are beginning to check your closet for what you will pack for this Christian women's event...here are a few things NOT to wear!
1. The warm winter coat and hat--It will be HOT in Atlanta by the end of June. Leave the warm coats and jackets at home! However, you my want to have a light sweater or jacket for inside Philips Arena...sometimes the arenas can be cool, especially early on Saturday morning before everyone arrives.
2. Stilettos--No matter how fabulous they look on your feet, you do NOT want to wear high heels for this weekend! There will be stairs, walking, concrete floors, walking, standing in line....did I mention walking? Please force yourself to wear comfortable shoes or bring an extra pair of flip flops stuffed in your purse!
3. Your Prom Dress--First of all, I can't even fit into my old prom dress. (And no that is NOT my ugly prom dress above!) It was passed on to Good Will long ago. But, if it did fit, Deeper Still: The Event is not the place I would wear it! The ladies at this Christian women's event dress for comfort. However, comfort does not mean they don't look cute!
These are just a few tips to help you as you pack in the coming weeks. As we women do, please feel free to share what you will be wearing to the event in Atlanta--I wonder how many of you will be wearing super cute capri pants and sandals!

Traveling Light
Now that you know "what NOT to wear" to Deeper Still: The Event from the last blog post...let's discuss what you do need. I have my top ten items, but you need to understand that I travel light.
1. Comfortable, but cute clothes for Friday night. You never know who you might meet and first impressions are important! (Obviously, I did grow up in the South)
2. A light sweater or jacket just in case the arena or the nights in Atlanta are cool.
3. Walking shoes, whatever that means to you. For me it means a great pair of shoes that I can walk in for a long time...I can stand in them for a long time...I can keep them on my feet for a long time. For some people it might be tennis shoes, for others flip flops. However, I doubt it is stilettos! (Read the previous blog post on what NOT to wear)
4. Favorite Bible. Come on now, Kay Arthur, Beth Moore, and Priscilla Shirer--did you really think you might not use your Bible?!
5. Favorite pen and/or highlighter. A Deeper Still Listening Guide will be provided where you can take notes, but everyone needs her own pen or highlighter...in her favorite color, of course!
6. Comfy pajamas that you don't mind being seen in as you go get ice or something from the vending machine in the hotel at midnight.
7. Comfortable, but cute clothes for Saturday. First impressions are still important and there are people you didn't meet on Friday night that you may meet on Saturday!
8. Make-up (if you wear make-up). For me it is an essential. Sorry to pack this in your bag if you don't like it. However, it was stressed to me (from birth) to never leave the house without "my face." It was especially stressed to never leave the house without mascara on my eyelashes. I still get carried away some days and look like I have spider legs attached to my eyes. By the way, I do include toothbrush and toothpaste with make-up because teeth are part of "the face."
9. Hair products. Whatever it takes to tame the mane! Most hotels provide sample shampoos, conditioners, and a hair dryer, but there is no guarantee. And face it...no woman wants to be at a Christian women's event when she is having a bad hair day!
10. A really BIG purse to hold everything else you want to bring but can't fit in your suitcase! Come on now, did you really think I could make it with only ten items? The purse will hold your cell phone, ipod, a good book to read as you travel, extra pens and highlighters, several more tubes of lipstick, gum, mints, tissues, photos, cash, credit or debit cards......
Of course there are lots of other things you could bring, but do you really need them? Do you really need to bring five board games to play in the hotel room after the event on Friday or Saturday night? Do you really need three extra outfits just in case you wake up bloated or in the mood for a different colored shirt on Saturday morning? And if your suitcase is stuffed, where are you going to put the books, CDs, t-shirts, or book bag you buy from the LifeWay store at the arena or the things you buy in Atlanta?!

Day of Prayer for Atlanta Deeper Still
Calling all you prayer warriors! Today is our official day of prayer and fasting for the Atlanta Deeper Still Christian women's event. Consider fasting during lunch and/or dinner today and using that time in prayer for our speakers Beth Moore, Kay Arthur, and Priscilla Shirer. Also, remember to pray for Travis Cottrell and the Praise team, our special guest Mandisa, the Production team and the LifeWay event team.

A Message from Mandisa
Hey girls! I can't wait to be with you in Atlanta in a couple of weeks! I've been looking forward to this weekend for quite some time now. I traveled on Beth's praise team for 4 years before doing American Idol, have done countless Kay Arthur studies, became quick friends with Priscilla 5 years ago, consider Travis to be one of my best friends, AND worked at LifeWay for 3 years! Needless to say, our weekend together in Georgia will be a little bit like coming home for me! I'm already asking God to not just speak (and sing) through me, but to speak TO ME!!! I don't know about you but I'm in need of a word!
It's been an interesting few weeks for me. I'm reading a book by Randy Alcorn called Heaven. Let me tell ya...it is blowin' my mind (I'm from California but I hope you can detect the deep southern accent in that last statement)! I've often thought that the Bible doesn't have a whole lot to say about Heaven, but boy was I wrong! There is actually quite a bit that can be gleaned from the pages of scripture that address our eternal home. Needless to say, it has made me extremely excited to get there but in the meantime, it has set my mind on what matters most here on Earth.
Right around the time that I began this book, people around me started being ushered from this world to the next left and right! In the last month I have found myself praying for 6 different families whose loved ones have gone home. As a matter of fact, as I type this, I am preparing to do a show at Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, FL. The pastor of that church and his son were in a tragic accident 3 weeks ago and were killed immediately. When I heard the news I wept for them and mourned with them. It's interesting. I have never met the people of Bell Shoals before. Have never stepped a foot in their building. I don't know the names of the members in their congregation. But what I feel for them is a deep love that can only be explained by the fellowship of the Spirit.
A couple of weeks ago as I watched the finale of "American Idol" from my home, I got a phone call telling me of the tragedy that Steven Curtis Chapman and his family were facing. His 5 year old daughter, Maria Sue, had just been pronounced dead and some people were gathering at their church to pray and comfort the Chapman's. It was about 10:30 PM and I threw on my clothes and began the 30 minute trek to Christ Church in Franklin, TN. When I arrived I was amazed to see the parking lot full. As I walked into the church lobby my heart was warmed as I saw the standing room only crowd praying, crying, and embracing. It was in that moment that I witnessed the beauty of the body of Christ and vowed to never take it for granted.
I've stood on stages before thousands on sold out tours. Walked the halls of the White House and held hands with the president of the United States. Sung on television before millions. But I can honestly tell you that, apart from Heaven, there is no place I would rather be come June 27-28 than with you, my sisters in Christ. When you look at life in light of eternity, the blessing of fellowship with the saints is something to be cherished. I can't wait to see you! And if we don't meet face to face in Atlanta, let's me and you grab a cup of coffee with our King of kings when we make it to our Promised Land!

Something New!
Aren't we always looking for something new? Something that will give us a fresh look...new clothes, new shoes, new hairstyle, or maybe a new attitude! The same is true for Deeper Still: The Event!
We want God to bring a fresh word through Beth, Kay, and Priscilla. And we want your worship experience as Travis and the Praise team lead us to be fresh and alive in Christ. So, you need to know we have some new things planned for Deeper Still in Atlanta!
One BIG thing you need to look for when you arrive Friday evening are four HUGE boards set in different places on the concourse. Remember when you were growing up and got in trouble if you wrote or colored on the walls? Well, throw those rules out! WE WANT YOU TO WRITE ON THESE FOUR BOARDS! Does that sound fun or what!
"What am I supposed to write on these boards?" you may be asking. Well, ask yourself these questions:
What do I hope God will do in my life through this Christian women's event?
What are my dreams as I go deeper still with God?
What is one thing I need to release to God this weekend?
We want these "story" boards to reflect and record a small portion of your story and how you hope and pray your story becomes HIS Story at Deeper Still: The Event.
So, as you reflect on the questions above, what will you write? What is the SOMETHING NEW you are hoping and praying to happen at Deeper Still: The Event in Atlanta?

Anyone Hungry?
There is nothing like a great road trip with your girlfriends! Fun, fellowship, and of course, food! With a little planning, you and your Deeper Still girls are sure to avoid the hunger pains as you try out some new restaurants in Atlanta.
Click here to link to a fantastic page with over 100 restaurants in downtown Atlanta. I would recommend calling in advance to find out pricing and more specifics about the restaurants. Also, it would be a good idea to find out exactly the distance from the restaurants of your choice and Philips Arena.
Hey all our Atlanta ladies--do you have some good suggestions of places to eat near the arena?
In addition to the restaurants outside of Philips Arena, there are vendors on the concourse inside the arena. They will have all the options normally served at concerts and sporting events held at the arena. (And don't forget while you and your girlfriends order your food on the arena concourse...find the special boards and write your hopes and prayers for Deeper Still--read June 10 blog entry "Something New" to find out more)
One other option that is unique to Deeper Still: The Event Atlanta! Prepaid box lunches for Saturday! If you would like to purchase a box lunch in advance, find the box lunch table on Friday night. You will pay for your box lunch and receive a voucher/lunch ticket to use Saturday. On Saturday you will go to the appropriate tables, hand over your lunch ticket and pick up your box lunch. These will be your standard box lunches with a turkey or ham sandwich, chips, fruit, cookie and bottled water. (You may want to bring your own crystal light packet or another powdered drink mix to add to your water.) This will be an easy lunch option and allow you more free time during the lunch break Saturday.
We would love to get an estimate on the box lunches in advance. If the prepaid box lunch sounds like the option you may choose let us know via the blog. (Yes, right here, just make a quick comment!)

The Power of Prayer
As I continue to read your comments on the Deeper Still Blog, I am overwhelmed by your sweet spirits, hopes and prayers for this event. You are a precious group of women and we can't wait to be with you in Atlanta. Thanks to all of you for sharing your struggles and your need for God to do something BIG in your life as He takes you deeper still in your relationship with Him.
We are so touched by your comments and want to continue this powerful connection of prayer and encouragement. So, this is your official prayer page as we approach June 27-28 in Atlanta. Please post your prayer requests so others on the blog can pray specifically for you. Also, feel free to write a prayer or pray scripture for those individual requests or for Deeper Still: The Event.

Mom's Advice...
Yes, I know, this weekend is Father's Day. But as I tried to imagine the advice my dad would give ladies attending Deeper Still: The Event all I heard in my head were groans, grunts, and sighs (he is a man of few words).
My mom, on the other hand, is the lady you see walking through the produce section at the grocery store, talking out loud. She actually looks pretty normal these days, except for the fact that SHE IS NOT WEARING A CELL PHONE on her ear! She is pretty much just talking to herself....yeah, you've probably seen her at a produce section near you!
Anyway, if you can envision a woman talking to herself that much, then you know she has great nuggets of wisdom to share with other women. Some of the wonderful advice I've picked up through the years includes:
Don't wear horizontal striped clothing. I don't think this advice applies to everyone, but I am only 5' 1" and so horizontals bring me down to 4' 5" or so.
(yeah...that's not me)
She, my mom, always recommends having extra undergarments as you pack for a trip. And, of course, always wear clean underwear--in case your in an accident or something. I've still not quite figured that one out. Then mom suggests other things that most of you have probably heard before--
Don't run with scissors...
Keep you arms and legs inside the vehicle...
Don't wake a sleeping baby...
(but look at that sweet little face...you just want to touch those precious cheeks and kiss that little head...)
Back to the advice from Mom...
The problem is, none of her advice really pertains to attending a large Christian women's event. Actually, my mom may be like many of you. When I stop to think about it, I don't know if she has ever attended an event as large as Deeper Still? Hum, I'll have to call her and ask.
Back to the subject. I do know many of you are veterans to these large events. We've had several of our bloggers, like Angie, already give suggestions related to construction around the Atlanta area and Angie also provided a website for a favorite restaurant she recommends for your dinner on Saturday evening after the event! So, if you have great advice for those attending Deeper Still in Atlanta, let's hear it!
And it is ok if you don't have advice that will help us manage our way around the arena or anything related to Atlanta Deeper Still. Let's hear the great words of wisdom from your momma about life!
(Just had to add one more favorite! Can't wait to hear your "mom's advice," but don't forget Father's Day this weekend!)

WHAT WILL THEY SAY NEXT?!
This is the question you will ask when you hear the Panel Discussion session at Deeper Still: The Event! And the best part is...YOU GET TO ASK THE QUESTIONS! Yes, you my sweet Deeper Still Bloggers get to submit the questions for the Panel Discussion session in Atlanta! Even if you will not be attending the event you can submit your questions here on the blog!
I have to admit it is probably my favorite session of the entire weekend. It is like watching a great talk show with three of your favorite people! There are words of wisdom, but also LOTS of laughs.
As I looked back at some of the questions...and thought about the answers our three wonderful sisters gave...I laughed all over again! Kay, Beth, and Priscilla covered everything from "What is your favorite lipstick color?" to "How do you balance life and ministry?" Their answers are honest and sometimes hilarious!

Sharing Beauty Info is a MUST!
As my friend (and Deeper Still Event Coordinator) Betsy says, "Well, it doesn't take but about 5 minutes to turn a conversation up here (LifeWay Women's Events office) to make-up, hair or fashion!"
Betsy recently forwarded an email from her daughter Julie to all of us about a new hair product. This is the "reader's digest version" of the email.
"Girls! I have found us a new hair product. It's called 'Let's Jam!' a shining and conditioning gel that promises to be pure fun as you style." Yes, that is what Julie said it actually stated on the container! Well, LET'S JAM is what I say! Who doesn't want pure fun as we style in the mornings!
As I read the comments from yesterday's blog I had to laugh out loud! It was so awesome to see not only deep theological questions submitted for the Deeper Still Panel Discussion in Atlanta, but also the fun "give us some make-up, hair and fashion tips!" I loved the one asking the ladies how much sleep they get!
So, as you continue submitting your panel discussion questions, I think sharing beauty info is a MUST! I mean really look at them! These women are beautiful!
What questions do we want to ask our girls Kay Arthur, Beth Moore, and Priscilla Shirer? All three look fantastic in real life--their photos are not extreme makeover photos. They really do look that good! I'm sure we can get some great tips out of them during the panel discussion!

Pickles and Ice Cream! A Note from Priscilla...
Sisters,
I'm thinking about you tons today! Can't wait to see you at Deeper Still next weekend. At this moment I am sitting in my bed with my laptop, Bible, notes and pens scattered all over the place preparing to speak to you. Every few minutes, I'm distracted from my train of thought by my bulging tummy that has come to life in the past few weeks.
If you've not already heard, I'm 23 weeks pregnant and this little one is making his/her presence known. It is odd watching my Bible, spread wide across my lap, tilt from side to side or involuntarily turn pages as the baby does flip flops inside. (Doesn't this little person know I'm trying to study right now!)
So, next weekend, if I seem unprepared please blame the baby...not me!
I've noticed so many changes in my body in these weeks. Other than putting on more weight than I ever thought I would, my tastes have changed. The other day around 5 pm, I wanted an Oreo Blizzard from Sonic. I drove up to the fast food chain and ordered the largest one they had with, "extra whipped cream and extra Oreo cookies, please!"
Sister, if you've not had one of these delightful creations you are missing out on one of God's greatest gifts to humanity. I am certain that God's most precious anointing is at Sonic in the Oreo Blizzard!
I ate the whole thing without any guilt and then made my way home. Within two hours, I had another craving. I wanted pickles. Now you have to understand, I don't normally like pickles. In fact, if I find them hidden in the layers of a hamburger or sandwich I deliberately pull them off. But now, all I could think about was sinking my teeth into a cool, crisp Vlasic pickle.
My sweet husband went to the store at 7 pm to bring me home a jar full. I ate two immediately.
Feeling satisfied, I lay down in my bed to rest that night. That's when the oddity of my culinary tastes really hit me. Pickles and ice cream...within two hours of each other... Urghhh! That's disgusting.
Normally, I'd never want a menu like that but now that this baby was growing inside of me my likes and dislikes were being completely altered and transformed. I guess that's what happens when new life takes up residence in you. You just start becoming different...inside and out.
I'm praying that the Spirit of the Living God will be so full in you that you'll find your tastes changing. My hope is that we won't be the women we have always been but will see that things we used to like, we don't anymore and things we didn't like are what we desire more than anything.
As the influence of God's spirit grows in me and in you, I want the world to see the oddity of what we desire and how we want to live and think that we are strange...strange enough for them to come and ask us what's going on. Then, we can give them a little taste of what they've been missing.
I can't wait to see you next weekend. I believe that God is going to do a work in us that will mark us forever.
Did you know that there are 19,000 of us registered for the event? What if we all left at the end, with our taste buds brimming over for the new things of God? What would happen if all 19,000 of us went back to the places we're from and started living differently? What kind of incredible impact could we have on the world?

Avoiding Atlanta Construction and other Mega Disasters
Forgive me. I was tired last night and started watching one of those disaster documentaries on the History Channel. As I started writing today's blog, the doom and gloom emerged. On the documentary they stated, "It is not a matter of if it will happen, but when."
Sorry girls--this is the sad truth about Atlanta construction as well. It is not a matter of if you will drive through construction in Atlanta, but when on your adventure to Deeper Still: The Event. That is the bad news. You will face traffic and construction in Atlanta.
Now the good news! None of the construction or traffic issues we may face in Atlanta will be as bad as the mega disasters I watched on that documentary last night! (Tornados, hurricanes, dams breaking, floods--they were really mega disasters!)
More good news! I found several helpful websites that give great information on construction and road work taking place across the city.

Several of our Atlanta gals suggest taking MARTA, Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, buses or rail system when possible. Click here to link to find out rail and bus schedules, maps, fares, parking information and other suggestions for using MARTA.
Another tip. If you are driving, plan ahead and allow extra time within the city. If you have a GPS bring it and use it. If you are flying and then renting a car, ask for a vehicle with a GPS system. I can't promise that all those "NeverLost" things always work, but at least they get you closer to your destination than winging it on your own!
Although I only looked up the road work schedule for this week, I am positive it (the construction and road work) will still be there next week! As with most cities, I'm sure the construction will continue through next week...and next month...and next year. Don't most large cities have never-ending construction!
I know this is the not the FUN DAY on the blog, but hopefully, helpful information we can all use as we prepare for next week. Please Atlanta girls give us your suggestions and tips for driving in Atlanta.

Well sisters, after the rather boring and depressing information regarding road work and construction in Atlanta for this morning's blog post, I thought we needed something FUN on this late Thursday night to help us prepare for FUN FRIDAY!
What is the FUN FRIDAY, you ask? One week from now on Friday, June 27 we will be "steppin' out" in Atlanta for Deeper Still: The Event!

Praying for God to TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE
Hey sisters! One week from today we will be in the midst of Deeper Still!
As I prayed for you this morning, I prayed for our eight sweet mommies coming to Atlanta who have all lost babies in the last year. They are meeting face-to-face for the first time in Atlanta at Deeper Still. I prayed for the IMB, International Mission Board, missionary who is stateside from Russia while her young son receives medical treatment. By God's divine appointment, she is able to come to Deeper Still: The Event in Atlanta. I prayed for my new blog friend, Katie, who asks the best questions! I've prayed for so many of you by name this morning and continue to pray that God uses your time with Him at Deeper Still to transform your life.
I asked several of my friends to share about their Deeper Still experiences last year. My "little sister" Alicia, who works with Student Events and Camps at LifeWay, attended Deeper Still in Nashville at the simulcast location on the campus of Belmont University.
This is what Alicia wrote...
I was just thinking about my experience last fall at the Deeper Still Event in Nashville. My mom came up for a mother daughter weekend and as I recall, we managed to cram shopping, eating, pedicures, movies and several trips to Starbucks into the days leading up to the event. We were well caffeinated and looking good as we rolled into the parking lot of the Curb Center on the campus of Belmont University (the satellite location for the sold out event).
As much as I love those memories, I have to smile when I think about what made that particular weekend so special to me. Sitting next to my mom with Bibles resting in our laps, I remember thinking how familiar that felt to me...to see my mom with the Word in her hands; the sound of pages flipping back and forth; the look of peace falling across the face of a woman who had built her life on the Truth of those words. What a gift to stand and worship next to the one who prayed me through my growing pains and helped me discover my value as a child of God.
All those years of watching my mom handle the weight of the world with such grace...though I didn't fully appreciate the lessons she was teaching me at the time, I realize today how much of me has been shaped by the character of Christ I've seen in her. Because my mom and I are different in many ways (I got my naïve optimism, independent nature and flare for adventure from my dad), its taken years for me to recognize all the incredible things I admire about her. The time we spent together that weekend (and on so many other occasions) challenged me to go deeper still.
Mom, if you happen stumble upon this blog (since you are now so computer savvy), let me say THANK YOU for living out your faith, for showing me what the life of a prayer warrior looks like, for leading me but still letting me discover the journey for myself. Thank you for showing me how to trust God even when I don't understand my circumstances. Thank you for teaching me the beauty of moments spent in the powerful presence of our Savior.

Lobster Bisque, Fried Chicken and Waffles
Ok...I admit it. Eating is my favorite hobby. (Have you noticed that all my posts have been about food somehow?) Even with my pregnant taste-buds being slightly off center right now, food still excites me. I'm interested in tons of delectable treats that wouldn't normally suit my fancy but when I'm traveling to Atlanta I always want the same thing - good food. Atlanta is inundated with opportunities to take in the best nibbles the country has to offer. I hope this weekend you'll take the city by storm and enjoy great physical food to go with the spiritual vittles God's going to be serving up.
Did you know that Emeril Lagasse's restaurant is in Atlanta? Actually it's in Buckhead just 15 short minutes from downtown. The best lobster bisque I ever ate came from there (not to mention their amazing Fried Green Tomatoes and chicken salad). Then, just on the outskirts of downtown there's a little hole-in-the-wall that you'd miss unless you're looking for it. It's called "Gladys Knight Chicken and Waffles". Yes ma'm, that's right! That's Gladys the famous singer. You thought her voice was smooth? Just wait till you see that creamy maple syrup pouring all over a mound of waffles with your favorite sides in tow.
Now, if you didn't grow up in the South, the idea of a breakfast food like waffles paired with fried chicken or collard greens, potatoes, green beans, yams or any of their other offerings might sound as strange to you as it did before I married my southern bread husband. But sister, believe me, one taste and you'll be hooked just like the bass my friend caught yesterday out on our neighborhood pond.
Well friend, you'll know where to find me over this weekend. If I'm not speaking to you, listening to Miss Beth or Miss Kay bring God's Word or fellowshipping with you, I'll be...eating!
Can't wait to see you Friday night. If you notice a bit of syrup on the corner of my mouth or a "reddish" stain on the collar of my shirt from the bisque, just give me grace, chalk it up to the unsteady hand of a pregnant woman and tell the woman next to you where she can go to get some!

THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN!
Woo hoo! Deeper Still is almost here. I can't wait! This weekend is going to be over-the-top great.
The band and I have been waiting (not-so-patiently) for this special weekend. We even had a rehearsal. That's a big deal, people. We have been learning some new tunes and brushing up on some older ones (see Psalm 134:2).
Yep...we have been getting our music ready. But we have also been getting our hearts and minds prepared for whatever it is the Lord has for us to learn and experience this weekend. The Lord brought to mind a funny story that Julie, a member of the praise team, told us recently...
Julie and her husband wanted to get their kids a Wii game system for Christmas. The problem was they waited until the last minute to find one. So, they were two of the crazies who slept outside Target on Thanksgiving night so they could be one of the first to secure a Wii on Friday morning.
Well, they were successful. And you didn't even need to know that part of the story. I just love to tell it. I love to expose the crazies.
Anyway, 2 or 3 months into the new year, I asked Julie how their family was enjoying the Wii. She said that she was going to have to send it in to the manufacturer, because the controls weren't working. Bummer, I thought to myself. Actually, I didn't just think it. I said
it. Bummer.
OK...so fast forward a couple of months after that. I asked Julie if she got their Wii back, and if it was fixed. She immediately got a sheepish look on her face, and ashamedly responded, "Uh...um...I didn't have to send it. The remote sensor was just dusty. Once I
cleaned it, it worked fine."
(My apologies to Julie for exposing her dusty Wii sensor.)
Hmmm...I thought to myself. I really just thought it this time. I didn't say it.
It made me think...
I don't know what all you have weighing on you this week. Maybe you come with heavy burdens...and you are desperate for immediate answers from the Lord about a specific hurt, or problem, or do-or-die situation. Or maybe you come full of joy because in this season of your life you are on the mountaintop. Or maybe you are like Julie's Wii game...and your spirit needs a good dusting off...a refreshing new move of the Spirit of God in your life...a new Word for this new day.
Whatever season you are in...I have a feeling that all of our "sensors" could use a dusting. And I pray that we all will come ready to receive it. If you are hurting...come with your wounds exposed, and let His grace cover you...heal you. If you are celebrating, bring your joy to Him, and let His love complete you. And if you are feeling dull, stale, in need of a fresh Word, let His perfect Spirit restore you.
Because we weren't made to watch this game of life go by with a half-engaged heart. We were meant to play it...live it...love it! And thanks to Jesus, this good life is there for the taking.
And we don't even have to wait in line all night at Target to get it.
Come ready to engage your heart fully...He is ready for you. And we will be, too...see you in Atlanta...THIS WEEK!

Last Minute Reminders
I'm not sure if the this is a good habit or an obsessive need, but every time my family prepares for a vacation, camp, or any kind of trip...I create a checklist. Sometimes it is handwritten, but it ALWAYS has the little boxes before each item to "check off." OK, sometimes we just scratch things out, but still, the checklist is a must!
Well, of course, of thought of a few things for you to add to your "checklist."
Don't forget--
- Bible and pen. In all the packing and repacking, it is sometimes what we forget!
- Any medicines you may need. Carry prescriptions in your purse. Yes, I know I sound like your grandmother. But you never know what delays or change of plans may take place, especially if you are with a group.
- Cellphone AND charger. Unless you have a fantastic phone, you will probably need to charge it on Friday night. And trust me, you want your phone working on Saturday for an all day event. Before the event begins, before you arrive at Philips Arena, exchange phone numbers with several in your group and go ahead and program them into your phone.
- Identify the group leader. If you are with a church or large group, there will be someone serving as the group leader. She will suggest meeting spots, times to reconnect if the group separates, etc. Make sure you have her cellphone number and look to her for direction. Even if you are only with two other people, you may want to trade off being "the group leader!"
- On Friday night when you arrive at Philips Arena, if you want a boxed lunch for Saturday, find the appropriate tables on the concourse, prepay for your boxed lunch and get your lunch voucher.
- Also, on Friday night and Saturday morning look for the large storyboards on the concourse, Be sure and write your thoughts and prayers on the boards about how you want God to take you Deeper Still this weekend.
- Cash. Make sure you have a little cash on hand for any tips with luggage handlers at the airport and hotels. Cash is sometimes easier for the concessions at the arena or street vendors in downtown areas. You also need cash for vending machines in the hotels for those late night snacks!

MORE Last Minute Reminders
Hey sisters! It is really almost here...Deeper Still: The Event in Atlanta! We are less than 48 hours away from doors opening!
Please pray for the LifeWay Event Team and Production team--we travel and set up Thursday...and know that we are praying for you! As soon as I can, I will give you an update after we get to Atlanta.
Until then, here are a few more reminders from our awesome Event Coordinator, Betsy.
- Doors will open at 5:30 PM on Friday night .
- Concessions and Bookstore will be open before the event starts, during breaks, lunch etc.
- Box lunches will be pre-sold on Friday beginning at Noon at the Box Office. Leave someone in line and go purchase for your group.
- Read all the information on your registration material. Any registration or will call needs will be served at the Will Call area, outside near the box office.
- Make sure you are in your seat by about 6:45 PM. You won't want to miss the new opening of the event at 6:58 PM. It's a big surprise!!!
- Great things to bring with you are....smiles, patience, love in your heart, all your hurts and disappointments, great joy, everything about who you are.
- Can't wait to see you all there and oh, I almost forgot....bring a light jacket in case it's cool for you.

We're Here!
Incredible! It is now 9:30 pm in Atlanta and this is my first free moment today! I'm so excited to sit at my computer and fill you in on the day!
We left around 7:00 am this morning from LifeWay in Nashville, Tennessee. A smooth and safe day of travel with plenty of laughs and chicken mini's from Chick-fil-a!
When we arrived at Philips Arena (around 12:30 pm), the amazing Production Team had started the bulk of the set up. All I can say is WOW! There is so much that goes into preparing an arena for lights, sound, stage, and so forth. (I'll see if I can't find some photos around here from the team to let you see the progression)
It is always exciting watching the LifeWay bookstores come to life on the concourse! By the way, there will be three LifeWay bookstores located on the concourse at Philips Arena. Stop by and check them out when you get here Friday!
Our day was busy unloading Deeper Still Listening Guides, Journey devotional magazines, LifeWay displays, and other random items! Be sure to get your Listening Guide and Journey magazine when you enter the doors Friday night. Our wonderful ministry partner volunteers from Atlanta will be the ones standing at the doors smiling and handing them to you as you enter.
There is not much to tell about the afternoon as we continued to set up and prepare things behind the scenes for Deeper Still: The Event. It is not a glamourous job as we throw boxes in t-shirts and capris. Honestly, we get pretty hot and stinky! But with every box, every tissue box, every Bible, every cord connected...we think of you and we are more excited than ever as we await your arrival!
Tomorrow I will begin posting the happenings of Deeper Still Atlanta, throughout the day and evening. We want to keep you updated on all that God is doing at this awesome Christian women's event!
So, if you are not able to join us live at the event, join us live on the blog! I will try to post lots of pictures so you feel like you are here with us! Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! Expecting God to take us Deeper Still like never before!

This is the day the Lord has made...
...Let us rejoice and be glad in it! To quote Psalm 118:24 this morning! This is the day we've been anticipating for almost a year now!
We are thrilled as we continue to set up in Philips Arena this morning! I've already had the opportunity to share with three of the young men setting up chairs in the arena. One is a believer, but the other two did not even have a Bible. Yes, in downtown Atlanta, in the middle of the "Bible belt," there are still people who do not know Jesus as Lord and Savior and do not own Bibles! Look for those people around you today ladies--you never know what opportunies you may have on your journey to share Jesus!
Have I told you lately how excited we are as we prepare for your arrival?! I love to pray for you and think of you as we go about our business today preparing the sanctuary!
I've thought of a couple of things that you may want to know about...that frankly, I didn't know about in advance.
1. You may want to bring an umbrella or rain pancho. They are predicting scattered showers for the Atlanta area today and tomorrow.
2. Boxed lunches will go on sale today at 12:00 pm at the Philips Arena box office. You can pre-purchase your boxed lunch for $8.00 using cash or credit card.
3. Also, big FYI, the CNN Center Food Court is a great option for any of the meals. They have about 20 walk up restaurants in their Food Court. There is a Moe's Southwest Grill, Wendy's, Arby's, Chick-fil-a, Natural's Ice Cream, and Starbucks! Those are just a few of the options...they all look good.
It is easy access from the arena, because it is actually the front entrance to the arena. Once you come in the CNN Center, you can stay indoors in this food court before the doors open.
4. Someone on the blog last night asked about parking fees. It would be best if you check www.philipsarena.com and look at the parking and directions to the lots available. My sources here say parking fees vary between about $8.00 to $20.00 per day.

Pray for Beth Moore and Kay Arthur as they travel this morning. Our sweetie, Priscilla and her husband Jerry, arrived last night safely.
Pray for Travis and Praise Team and Priscilla as they lead us in worship and the word tonight.
Pray that the Lord will hold off the rain this evening until you are all inside the building!

Emptiness...
This is what it looks like before you arrive ladies. Yes, this Philips Arena in Atlanta completely empty without you!
As I look out across this arena different thoughts come to mind...
If you look closely at the back of the seats, in my mind, I see tombstones. I know that sounds morbid. But seriously, I think of Arlington National Cemetary, with rows and rows of white tombstones. Of course, the backs of the chairs in Philips are black, but you get the idea.
I wonder how many of you arriving today feel empty, like you are spiritually dying, or even spiritually "dead." You may or may not have any expectations as you arrive today. Maybe you feel Deeper Still: The Event is your last glimmer of hope.
You need to know that there are so many people praying for you!
Also as we looked across the empty arena again this morning, one of our gals, Dianne said, "Just think Allison is going to be sitting over there and Shelly is going to be sitting over there!" Then, I started picturing you sitting in all of these empty seats. Even without you here, just thinking about you made the place come to life!
You need to know we are praying for "the Allisons, the Shellys" and all of you!
And we are trusting God to breathe fresh life into all of us as we go deeper still with HIM this weekend.
First One to the Door!
Let the fun begin! We just checked the doors and met Ava from Kentwood, Louisiana. She is attending Deeper Still: The Event with two friends. They took off to go grab lunch and left Ava to hold their spot! Aren't they going to be sorry they didn't make the photo!
Christmas in June!
Just had to let you ladies know about something wonderful! I just got to hear a preview of Travis Cottrell's Christmas CD, Ring the Bells, coming out October 7th in LifeWay Bookstores across the country!
WOW! I know I say "WOW" a lot, but WOW! O Holy Night is one of my favorite Christmas songs and it takes someone with an amazing voice to sing it. It was fun to listen to it over the arena speakers and say to Travis...to his face..."That guy can sing!"

In About One Hour...
Can you believe in about one hour the doors will open for Deeper Still: The Event in Atlanta!
Travis and the Praise Team are still warming up and preparing to lead us all in worship. Right now....this very moment....they are singing the wonderful hymn Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing...and it is beautiful....the music and voices are beautiful...the team sitting together in a circle on the stage is even more so. They do love to worship our Jesus even when no one else is around to see it.
In the next hour, the volunteers and encouragers will arrive. They will go through their training time as they prepare to serve you this weekend. We can't wait to welcome you all with smiles and hugs!
I'll bring you another update after we train the volunteers and encouragers. I will try to convey (the best I can with mere words) the excitement and expectations of this night!
DOORS ARE OPEN!
Deeper Still: The Event in Atlanta has officially begun!
In less than thirty minutes all the floor seats and the first level were full! Girls...there is soooo much PINK in this room! Pink is obviously the color of the night! You can tell there are church groups and Bible study groups with matching shirts, even if they are not all sitting together.
Remind me...that is a great tip for Las Vegas Deeper Still in September...wear matching shirts if you are with a large group. Sorry Atlanta gals--missed that tip for you!
Philips is a beautiful arena. They have these HUGE LED lights (I had to ask one of our production team the correct term)...they circle all the way around the arena. They remind you of those running Christmas lights, you know the ones. Right now, they are circling and advertising the big companies around Atlanta. I just keep sitting here thinking about how fun it would be to grab a hold of their keyboard and type in some scripture verses!
The ladies are now starting to fill in the top level of the arena. It looks like, despite traffic, people are getting in on time. We are getting ready for the incredible, surprise opening at 6:58 pm. I'll fill you in after the opening!
