Anyone Hungry?

There is nothing like a great road trip with your girlfriends! Fun, fellowship, and of course, food! With a little planning, you and your Deeper Still girls are sure to avoid the hunger pains as you try out some new restaurants in Atlanta.

atlanta skyline.jpg
Click here to link to a fantastic page with over 100 restaurants in downtown Atlanta. I would recommend calling in advance to find out pricing and more specifics about the restaurants. Also, it would be a good idea to find out exactly the distance from the restaurants of your choice and Philips Arena.

Front of Philips Arena Atlanta.jpg
Hey all our Atlanta ladies--do you have some good suggestions of places to eat near the arena?

In addition to the restaurants outside of Philips Arena, there are vendors on the concourse inside the arena. They will have all the options normally served at concerts and sporting events held at the arena. (And don't forget while you and your girlfriends order your food on the arena concourse...find the special boards and write your hopes and prayers for Deeper Still--read June 10 blog entry "Something New" to find out more)

One other option that is unique to Deeper Still: The Event Atlanta! Prepaid box lunches for Saturday! If you would like to purchase a box lunch in advance, find the box lunch table on Friday night. You will pay for your box lunch and receive a voucher/lunch ticket to use Saturday. On Saturday you will go to the appropriate tables, hand over your lunch ticket and pick up your box lunch. These will be your standard box lunches with a turkey or ham sandwich, chips, fruit, cookie and bottled water. (You may want to bring your own crystal light packet or another powdered drink mix to add to your water.) This will be an easy lunch option and allow you more free time during the lunch break Saturday.

We would love to get an estimate on the box lunches in advance. If the prepaid box lunch sounds like the option you may choose let us know via the blog. (Yes, right here, just make a quick comment!)

Let us know other suggestions and advice you would give the women attending Deeper Still: The Event in Atlanta about eating out and eating in. So, anyone hungry?

Hey Girls - You may have received an email with a little survey question about the box lunches. We'd love to know if this is an option you plan to take advantage of. So - either respond to that email to got or leave a comment here. We want your tummies to be happy at Deeper Still. A happy tummy is definitely connected to a receptive heart. I don't have a scripture to back that up but know it to be true! LOL

Love you all and can't wait to see you in just a few days!!!!

your humble and hairied event coordinator, Betsy!

I am part of a group of 28 from my church and a good number of us went to Deeper Still Nashville and know what that 1.5 hours for lunch is like. I think I can speak for all 28 of us and say we would all love to order the boxed lunches!!! First Baptist Pleasant Grove.

Count my group for five lunch boxes. I have been trying to figure out how so many women can find lunch in that short of a time...
You ladies must really be stressed with everything about to come to "fruit." You are in my prayers.

Thanks for the prayers Deborah! Like any big project, there are still lots of things that need to happen in these last weeks before the event. It is always a good time to take a deep breath and remember God is in charge! We are so excited about how He is working and just pray we continue to obey His directions! And yes, the box lunches are an easy, time saving option!

While we have lots of great restaurants in Atlanta, I can't think of any that I would recommend near Philips Arena. Order the boxed lunch for Saturday, then make reservations (www.opentable.com) for a great restaurant in Buckhead or Midtown for Saturday night after Deeper Still!

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I live in Atlanta and hate to inform the out of town ladies coming in that traffic will potentially be a NIGHTMARE for the event. I'm not trying to be negative, just honest. Unfortunately, they are paving the freeway downtown on weekends. Also there are some bridge construction projects that are going on as well. All of this is to say, on the weekends, numerous lanes of traffic are closed for paving. Also, many exit ramps are closed on the weekends. It varies which ones are closed week- by- week. So...........do your research before you come, if you are driving. If you are renting a car, get GPS. If you can walk, even better. If you live in town, I suggest riding MARTA rather than dealing with the traffic issues. Expect many delays and allow plenty of time to make it to the venue if you are driving or plan to leave for lunch.

Great suggestions Cindy! I am going to put up a separate post this week about MARTA and construction issues. I will probably include several of your suggestions...GPS, walking, to allow plenty of time, etc. Thank you for the warning to all of us about these traffic/construction issues!

My group of 4 will be purchasing box lunches for Saturday. Last year in Nashville, we walked the streets during lunch on Saturday trying to find a restaurant that did not have a line out the door and into the street! We said a prayer to find one and low and behold, we walked around the corner and saw Hooters! Yes, your sisters ventured inside and found a few fellow sojourners that had the same idea! We all had a good a laugh:)

OK that is hilarious! You know I told my husband I never want him to eat there...and I don't care how "great" people say the hot wings are! What a fun memory of Nashville DS!

Hey sisters!

Don't forget to prepay for the box lunches on FRIDAY NIGHT at the appropriate tables! They will give you a lunch ticket to use on Saturday. Make sure you take care of this as soon as you get your seat--I have a feeling these box lunches will sell out!

Bonnie and all you box lunch gals!

This is so helpful as we plan for the number of box lunches needed. Remember when you get to Philips Arena next Friday night to look for the box lunch tables. Prepay for your Saturday lunch and get your lunch ticket.

We are not taking orders via the blog, but your responses helped us decide to provide this service! Please don't forget to go to the appropriate tables on the concourse next Friday night at Deeper Still!

Great Elizabeth! Make sure someone from your group of five goes to the appropriate table and prepays for the box lunches on Friday night on the concourse of the arena. You will receive lunch tickets when you prepay Friday night. Hopefully, this will help move the lunch lines faster on Saturday. Can't wait to see you there!

Michelle~ The girls and I have now officially dispelled that myth...Despite local rumor(smiling), the wings from Hooters are no better than from any other place (actually, I did not care for mine at all)! So ladies, if your man tries to say they go for the food...tell them to try another restaurant:) LOL
