Praying for God to TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE

Hey sisters! One week from today we will be in the midst of Deeper Still!

As I prayed for you this morning, I prayed for our eight sweet mommies coming to Atlanta who have all lost babies in the last year. They are meeting face-to-face for the first time in Atlanta at Deeper Still. I prayed for the IMB, International Mission Board, missionary who is stateside from Russia while her young son receives medical treatment. By God's divine appointment, she is able to come to Deeper Still: The Event in Atlanta. I prayed for my new blog friend, Katie, who asks the best questions! I've prayed for so many of you by name this morning and continue to pray that God uses your time with Him at Deeper Still to transform your life.

I asked several of my friends to share about their Deeper Still experiences last year. My "little sister" Alicia, who works with Student Events and Camps at LifeWay, attended Deeper Still in Nashville at the simulcast location on the campus of Belmont University.

This is what Alicia wrote...

I was just thinking about my experience last fall at the Deeper Still Event in Nashville. My mom came up for a mother daughter weekend and as I recall, we managed to cram shopping, eating, pedicures, movies and several trips to Starbucks into the days leading up to the event. We were well caffeinated and looking good as we rolled into the parking lot of the Curb Center on the campus of Belmont University (the satellite location for the sold out event).

As much as I love those memories, I have to smile when I think about what made that particular weekend so special to me. Sitting next to my mom with Bibles resting in our laps, I remember thinking how familiar that felt to me...to see my mom with the Word in her hands; the sound of pages flipping back and forth; the look of peace falling across the face of a woman who had built her life on the Truth of those words. What a gift to stand and worship next to the one who prayed me through my growing pains and helped me discover my value as a child of God.

All those years of watching my mom handle the weight of the world with such grace...though I didn't fully appreciate the lessons she was teaching me at the time, I realize today how much of me has been shaped by the character of Christ I've seen in her. Because my mom and I are different in many ways (I got my naïve optimism, independent nature and flare for adventure from my dad), its taken years for me to recognize all the incredible things I admire about her. The time we spent together that weekend (and on so many other occasions) challenged me to go deeper still.

Mom, if you happen stumble upon this blog (since you are now so computer savvy), let me say THANK YOU for living out your faith, for showing me what the life of a prayer warrior looks like, for leading me but still letting me discover the journey for myself. Thank you for showing me how to trust God even when I don't understand my circumstances. Thank you for teaching me the beauty of moments spent in the powerful presence of our Savior.

Alicia

I've watched as God continues year by year to transform Alicia's life as she goes deeper still with Him. Praying He does the same thing in your life through Deeper Still: The Event in Atlanta and by the example and mentoring of other incredible Christians He places in your life throughout the years.

Blessings to you sisters, on this last weekend before Deeper Still. Know that I (and many others) are praying for you.

Thank you SO MUCH for your prayers for us! I am one of the now 8 girls meeting for the first time face to face in Atlanta. We are greatly looking forward to this time to hear from the Lord and to put our arms around one another as we grieve and celebrate the lives of our babies now with Jesus. What a beautiful opportunity we have, not just to meet, but to attend such an amazing conference together... to worship the Lord and give Him thanks for carrying us and bringing us all together to walk this unimaginable road hand in hand. The Lord is so good and I continue to praise Him for the healing and restoration that He has brought to my life in these 5 short months since Maddox entered and left this world.

Our son, like most of the other babies, was diagnosed prenatally with a condition known as Trisomy 18. It was something we had never heard of but we were told it was an "incompatible with life" diagnosis. Thankfully the diagnosing physician is a wonderful man of God and never suggested that we terminate as so many other women hear. We knew that as difficult a road as God was calling us to walk, knowing that we would lose our son and likely not have much time with him, it was clear that Maddox's life was totally in God's hands. On January 23rd, at 34 1/2 weeks, Maddox Donald Stanfield entered this world and lived just for an instant... long enough to open his eyes to see his earthly daddy, and then open them again to see his Heavenly One. We cherish the time and memories that we have of our second precious son.

Thank you immensely for this conference and for the opportunity for us mommies to finally come together to worship our Lord after months of walking and supporting one another, time after time as each baby was born and went on to Heaven. We are so blessed!

In Him,
Kenzie

"And now thus says the Lord, your Creator, and he who formed you, O Israel, 'Fear not, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by name. You are mine!"~ Isaiah 43:1- claimed for Maddox

Thank you so much for your prayers! I have a special prayer request. My husband and I are urban missionaries and one of our young men, only 14 years old, was shot and killed this past week. We have worked with him since he was seven. He was a very special kid. We think he was shot by an eighteen year old that is a member of a gang. We would like you to pray for his family and their neighborhood where we minister. His name was Damien and his family lives in a complex called Walnut Terrace. We are grieved by his death, but more importantly we grieve for all the lost souls in urban areas all over our city and cities across the country. Thank you for your prayers!

Only five more days! I know the Lord is going to work mightily!
Gotta go get that pedicure!

Much love!

Michelle,
I love that post from your sister.

It sounds like what I will be experiencing for the first time this weekend with my mom.

I have been attending and organizing women's events for years, however, this is the first time my mom will be attending a women's event.

Although, my mom has been the one who has prayed for me, guided me, and been the voice of Truth my whole life it has only been recently that she started doing Bible Studies.

I look forward to seeing what God reveals to us.

BTW: Michelle- I am Kim from the Siesta Fiesta blog (of Patty and Kim) I hope to have the opportunity to meet you this weekend.

Thanks for all you do!
God bless

I, like Kenzie, am one of the eight moms coming to Atlanta and can I just say that I am READY? Now that it's past midnight, I can officially say I have survived my baby girl's first birthday without her in my arms. Miller Grace spent five precious days with us here in this world before a neurological condition so rare that it still lacks a name made it possible for her to go home to our sweet Lord. June 23-28 will always be the most sacred days on the calendar to me. To make the journey down to Atlanta in the midst of them? What a gift. To meet other mothers who have literally carried the mat for me this year while they stood in refining fires of their own? Straight from God. Talk about restoration. I cannot wait to meet as many of you as possible and to worship our awesome Lord - who carries us through the most blazing fires in order to make us more like Him - together. We'll be the ones in the brown shirts with the pink and blue names on the back! :)

God is so good to us!

Thank God for this post, Michelle!

Thankyou for praying for me, you do not know how much it means to me to have people pray for me!

My older sister and I were the first ones to be saved in my immediate family, and since our parents had divorced earlier on in our lives, we have always been close to each other, and my sister was the first person to tell me about Christ, although I accepted Him into my heart and life to completely transform me in the summer before my 8th grade year (around 1997). My mom is coming with me to Deeper Still. I highly respect her, she has taught me much, and now I really pray that she receives a Word as well as my little sister who is coming with us too; also, my mentor who is coming. Sorry for the long post, this was good for me to read:)

Love in CHRIST,

Katie

Praying for you and your family Katie. What an amazing blessing and movement of God to bring you all together to attend Deeper Still! Praying HE does an incredible work in all of your lives--beyond anything you might think, ask, or imagine (Eph. 3:20-21). May we all experience an unexpected blessing like never before!
