America at the Crossroads
Hope you all had a great 4th of July celebrating our freedom and independence as a nation.
It only seems appropriate to post the notes from Kay Arthur's message today after the July 4th weekend. So many of you have asked for copies of the Saturday morning message at Deeper Still: The Event by Kay Arthur. My best advice is to continue checking Precept Ministries website to see if they are going to produce an audio copy of the message.
For those of you who attended Deeper Still in Atlanta or those who have ever participated in one of Kay Arthur's Bible studies, you know the woman teaches the whole Bible with every message. Or at least it seems that way! There is just NO WAY to give you all the notes!
However, I did want to give you a few quotes from Kay's message and the seven points with scripture references to help us all reflect on our weekend going deeper still.
These were just a few of the quotes that really caught my attention. I would love to hear what notes you wrote down, the quotes that God used to speak to you.
"All through history they [people] have burned the word of God. People have tried to rid the world of the word of God. But they can't destroy or change it because it will live forever."
"What do they [unbelievers, those who oppose God] want to do with truth...with Christians? They want to keep us in the church. They don't want us in the market place or in the schools."
"We are living in the midst of lies and those lies are going to destroy our nation. What are you listening to? What are you watching? Are you in God's word to form your opinions?"
1. We are to break up the fallow ground. We do this by returning and repenting. (Jeremiah 4:3)
2. We are to mourn. (Jeremiah 9:17-18)
3. We are to pray fervently.
4. We are to love God's word, to know the whole counsel of God. (Jeremiah 20:7, Deuteronomy 8:3)
5. We are to love others as Jesus loved them. (Jeremiah 31:3)
6. We are to introduce people to Jesus Christ. (Jeremiah 31:31-34)
7. We are to rest. Rest in the fact that if you do the other six points you can rest in His assurance. Rest in faith. He is the one who does the work and you are only the vessel. (Jeremiah 33:1-9, 15-17)
This is only the "tip of the iceberg" of Kay Arthur's message. Please share your insights and reflections and let's hear how God spoke to you!

Arthur's message was daunting, yet necessary. I hope people really listened and took it to heart. It is not a message to take lightly, it requires action...the first of which is to learn and KNOW God's Word so we will not be deceived. I posted the notes that I took from her message at my blog so anyone interested can follow the link and read those. I am currently searching Google for others who have blogged about their Deeper Still experience because it is always interesting to see what other people got from her message, and the Word that God gave the other speakers to deliver at the conference.
Thanks for posting what you have here and I really do hope that an audio of her message is made available, so that many more can hear that "call to repentance" and the hope through Christ that she instilled in us.

Miss Kay's message was such a huge blessing. It takes a special person to deliver a message like that one in a way that people will hear and receive. Only she could pull it off.
Miss Beth and I, as always, were astonished at her and God's Word through her.
I was mostly so moved by her passion for our country. She could barely say two sentences before tears started falling from her eyes. She has such an incredible heart for the things of God to be realized by people. It is obvious that her passion's mirror God's. I long for that type of heart in me - one that grows more and more sensitive to the things of the Lord with each passing year.
Thank you Miss Kay.

I jus wanted to say what an awesome and inspiring weekend Deeperstill was for me. People in ministry need to be ministered too as well and I definitely had my cup filled as Priscilla, Kay, and Beth shared from God's Word. The Sunday following the conference I had planned to show a video clip of someone's testimony as part of opening up the worship service, but the video never came, even though I put a 2 day rush on it. As I prepared for service Sunday morning I was convicted to share some of my own testimony, something that I had not done corporately in the 4 years I have been minister of music. The power of the spirit moving through these ladies that weekend gave me the courage to stand and tell of what God had done for me. The spirit of the LOrd moved in our service like He had not done in quite some time. Thank you for being obedient to God and standing with courage. It gave me extra strength as I thought of how God used you all. I knew He wanted to use me that Sunday morning to testify of His goodness.
May the Lord continue to give you strenth and courage as you all serve Him.
Blessings in Christ Jesus,
Renee Hall

I really wanted to share Kay's message with my husband and others. I did take notes but wanted a video or at least a transcript. I emailed Precept Ministries and they promptly emailed me that since it was a Lifeway conference there would be no video or anything available. Wanted others to know. What a great weekend.

I was moved to the core with the depth of Kay's burden for this message. I sat with my pen and paper scrawling as fast as I could her words and those scriptures references. I am thankful I have those notes to look back at and remember. I think, more than the notes, it was her heart for these truths that struck me and stuck with me most. I know our country is really at a crucial point in history, and I believe that we as believers are truly living in a time where we can either choose to make a difference or see our nation slide down a slippery slope. I am praying for God to give us all such a fervor for Him, and such a clarity of message, that those who don't know Him will long for what we have. Praise God that He hasn't left us without help or hope, but He has given us His own Spirit and left us the living and powerful Word... an anchor for our souls... and for the soul of a nation that would turn to Him.

Kay,
Let me check into this and see if there are any plans after the Las Vegas Deeper Still to release any CDs with the messages. I don't think that was the plan, but we've had numerous requests. They might consider it now.

I did not attend the conference but it sounded fabulous. I have been trying to find out more about what was said by Kay Arthur. I hear she had a hard time delivering a message that my friend said she mention that " clamity and famine is coming to our nation." Did I hear that right? Some one please respond. I have been trying to figure out how to get notes or transcripts about what she said., so far no luck.
Thank you, Lora

Oh, how I would love to get my hands on that message from Mrs. Kay!! I was at the conference in Atlanta and cried my eyes out over where our nations is headed. I know only a woman of God could stand up and deliver such a powerful teaching! I've been trying to tell the message over to my husband, and ladies who were not able to come to the conference, but I fear my memory and notes just don't do Kay's teaching justices! If the CD becomes available I would love to purchase it.

Just received an email from a friend who also heard that Kay used the words calamity and famine specifically regarding our nation in her message. I have read her 7 things we need to be surrendering to, and have shared those with sisters in Christ, but have not found mention of the calamity or famine that we are about to under go. I personally believe that whatever we are headed into we need to do as Kay has exhorted, I am however concerned that if we share this info with others we need the facts, the truth as well. Did anyone else hear the words, calamity and famine? Blessings to all of you, and I look forward to the banquet with all of you.

I loved the message that Kay A. gave to us at the Atlanta Deeper Still conference. I needed it. You see I am a harlot, I was presently having an affair, my wilderness. The reason for the affair, I thought marriage should be like the movies, romance and sex all the time. My husband had open heart surgery and he has lost all interest in me. Oh, he loves me these I know but sex (he has no desire for me; I think maybe it could be his medication that is affecting his sex drive) ). Kay made me realize that marriage is a sacred covenant between God and spouses; and don't take it lightly. Everyday now I have to ask God to fill me with his love and satisfy my desire. And I pray for my husband that his desire for me will return and I shower him with affection. I feel better now but it is still a battle. I am presently reading Return to the Garden; Embracing God's Design for sexuality. Boy, did this book hit home fast. At one time I stopped reading it because I got scared about my salvation then mad at Kay for being so honest. But I realized that I needed that kick in the rear. God, is no joke and He is true to his word. He wants to bless me and my marriage and I am holding back blessings. Like I said it isn't easy, the affair felt good phyically but spiritually the guilt was weighing me down to the ground; it was hell. Please pray for me and my marriage (and the Lord just revealed to me that maybe his self-esteem is down. I need to focus on intimacy like talking, touching and just spending time together. WOW. Again, thanks Kay for the straight truth, never bite your tongue about God. Beth and Priscilla with awesome too. I am still expecting the unexpected from God and trying to give Him my best everyday. PS Kay I am reading the Old Testament now and loving it.

Thank you Veronica for your honesty and openness. I know there are many of our sweet Christian sisters reading this blog and adding each prayer request to their prayer lists. Please know there are other women praying for you and so proud of you for facing the truth of your situation. Kay's book is fantastic and keep going deeper still in God's word--use a concordance or another Bible study tool if needed to search the scriptures for what God says about marriage. You are on the right track--obedience to God, even if it means personal sacrifice for a season. Keep God first as you face this battle each day--praying Ephesians 6:10-18 for you and many others facing the same temptations.

Why will no one answer the question several have posed? Did Kay say that a famine and great calamity is coming to our country or did she not? I have now recieved an email that is circulating with this information, purportedly coming from Valley View church in Houston, TX. There is, apparently no such church. Allowing this kind of rumor to circulate unchecked or unsubstantiated makes Christians appear foolish to the world. What are the facts????
Michelle Hicks said...
Janice,
Sorry I have not responded before this point--wondering if some of the women reading the blog who attended might have the exact words from Kay's message. I am sorry that I don't have an answer for you. Although I was there and was blogging and taking notes during the message, I do not have her message word for word. LifeWay and Precept Ministries are working to make Kay's message available in audio CDs. I think this will help prevent rumors and give everyone the facts of what Kay said in her message.

I was at the Deeper Still where Kay Arthur delivered this message that is gaining a lot of attention. I took many notes and she had so much to say I couldn't get it all.
I've posted at my blog about what I heard her say so for details you can go to it and read if you want.

I wanted to post to clear up some misconceptions and possibly answer some of the questions I've seen in this comment section and various other forums. I have no clue who "Beth" is in that email that keeps going around, and since the source doesn't seem to be able to be tracked down, at least not that I've seen, I would question some of the credibility. Also, I can't find an "official" statement from Kay Arthur from Precept Ministries and I keep seeing that "clarification" reposted never with an original source noted, which again, makes me question the credibility. I did however call the phone number I saw associated with it and the voicemail of someone who identifies herself as "Kay Arthur's personal assistant" picked up. That is just some information to be taken with a grain of salt.
Next, I want to be sure to tell you that Arthur did not claim to have some great revelation from God and she never said anything like "God told me..." or "God has revealed to me..." that this nation is under His Judgement. One must keep in mind however, that Arthur knows the Word of God from decades of intensive study, and therefore I believe she will deliver messages of utmost importance with authority given her from God, through the Holy Spirit. Arthur's message was one of warning, that if our nation continues in its sin, we are in grave danger. Fact is, God does judge, and this should say something to the Christians in this nation, and Arthur was reminding us of this. She was basically begging us to get back into the Word of God, to know Him and His Character, and to repent and turn from sin. She explained that "it is not the desire of God to bring judgement -- it is the necessity in His character when we will not obey"
"Famine" and "Calamity" were words used by Arthur, and she used scripture to explain what God does to nations that do not turn from sin. "Calamity" was out of Amos 3:8 and much of the "famine" came from Ezekial 14, which is basically a run down of what God will do to nations that do not turn from sin. As present day examples of what judgement may look like, she noted the flood situation in the Midwest that damaged many crops and compared that to "cutting off the bread supply" in Ezekiel 14, and also mentioned the news item from back in April about Walmart/Sam's club limiting bulk purchases of rice due to rising costs. I think this is where people started freaking out about this message as though she was saying "it's here! God's Wrath is upon us!" but again, she was giving examples to support the scripture warnings about judgement.
http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idUSN2323679120080423?pageNumber=2&virtualBrandChannel=0
The basic message was one of warning, that America is in danger of losing it's heritage and that this nation is under God's Judgement. She gave some examples about how in our country there is no absolute truth and that apostacies are many. She used some examples of how the media often distorts truth and that we don't know what to believe anymore. Right and wrong are clouded. She recommended a book by David Kupelian called "The Marketing of Evil: How Radicals, Elitists, and Pseudo-Experts Sell Us Corruption Disguised As Freedom".
While Arthur's message was "heavy" and dealt with a difficult topic, it was not all "doom and gloom". In fact she offered "7 things to Do in Light of This Message" which most here have taken note of.
Please ask if you have any more questions about Arthur's message and I'll try to dig up answers from the recesses of my mind and my notes.

Thank you Susan!!! Great job explaining Kay Arthur's message in a reader's digest version! It is hard to take two hours of pithy Bible study and explain it in a concise summary, but I think you did it!!! Hope this helps many to know the facts of the message and that it was not all "gloom and doom."
As I looked back through my notes, I wrote (this is my quote, not Kay Arthur) "Miss Kay is a woman who has seen and experienced much in her lifetime. She knows many people in the U.S. have made bad choices and decisions over the last 50-60 years, including Christians. We (believers) are allowing the culture to change us more than we are changing it. Christian believers need to speak up for Christ and the truth of God's Word. I think Miss Kay is challenging us to stand firm in our faith like many of us have never been challenged before--you can see it in the faces of the women here at Deeper Still."

Ladies!!! It is so encouraging to know how much truth the women in ATL heard at the Deeper Still Conference. Please know that the network of Precept Ministries has been praying for all of you for the weeks leading up to the event, during it and after it. We pray that God will continue to stir within you the desire to discover truth for yourself through the power of the Holy Spirit for the glory of God.
Many have asked questions about the notes and/or media from Kay's message as to whether or not you can obtain a copy of it. If you go to the following link--http://www.precept.org/site/PageServer?pagename=gen_AmericaAtTheCrossroads
--Precept has made several related resources available for you. There you can find a link to the book Kay mentioned--The Marketing of Evil--and a letter from Kay explaining what will be happening with the message in the next couple of months.
