KNOWN 02 Now Available for Download (and Free Samples!)

Have you been to the KNOWN website yet?  No?  Then you might not know we're offering a free sample of our Midweek resources.  By downloading the sample, you get to check out some of the stellar visual elements created by our graphic artists here, as well as - of course - a sample of our mid-week lesson which includes a plethora of ideas and a solid outline for your teaching time (and, of course, if you like the mid-week resources, the whole set can be purchased here).

I've been quite impressed and excited about the response we've gotten about the KNOWN resources.  (This is where I get to do a shoutout to one of our twitter friends, Matt Henslee.)  In a recent chat, Matt told me that "KNOWN overall has revolutionized our Student Ministry."

Matt is a user of the digital bundle we offer, and loves the incorporation of the mid-week event with the Sunday School materials - and his teachers love it too.  When we put the digital bundle together, we were really hoping to be able to reach not just students, but to create a resource that could connect with the myriad of digitally-savvy youth teachers out there; it's conversations like those through twitter with Matt that lets me thing we did it right.

LifeWayWorship Theme for the PS3

At this year's National Worship Leader Conference, the LifeWayWorship team hosted a Rock Band contest.  The winners of the contest recieved a a PS3 and the Rock Band set they won on!  When I heard about the contest, I decided to add a little extra touch to the PS3, and we installed a LifeWayWorship theme.

Now, you too can install this theme on your PS3.

First, click the link below and download the actual theme.

To install the them, you will need to move it onto a USB flash drive or memory card that works with your PS3.  Place the file in the following folder:

/PS3/Theme

Then, on the PS3 go to "System Settings" and select "Theme."  In the theme menu, simply select "Install" and you should be given the option to put the LifeWayWorship theme on your system!  Enjoy!

KNOWN Fall 08 Digital Downloads

On August 1st, the new KNOWN site went live!  KNOWN is the new student Bible study series LifeWay is producing.  In an effort to give users more accessibilty, the resources are also available as digital downloads.  We had a few snags getting everything up and running correctly (it's technical mumbo-jumbo, but these products are entered into our back system a touch differently than our previous digital products, so we had to make some adjustments) and we're proud to be able to send you that way!

I also want to make sure I mention the free downloadable products available from the actual KNOWN site.  Each session has complimentary Insights (Biblical commentary and application materials) and Options (creative teaching ideas).  There's even a free bonus session for Thanksgiving.

The Student department has gone out of their way to make the KNOWN product have some strong digital resources, and I'm proud to have been a part of this process!

 

 

Free "Share Jesus Without Fear" Downloads

Recently made available on the LifeWay Catalog is a series of free downloadable PDFs for the "Share Jesus Without Fear" material.  This is the first release of products under our multi-ethnic initiative led by Phil Adams, and it has been awesome to get to touch on it, just a little bit.

It's not often that we're able to give things of this nature away for free, let alone things that are entirely new products.  These pieces were translated specifically for this purpose: to make them available for free.  I've gotten to talk with Phil several times about the initiative, and there really isn't an ulterior motive here; Phil believes that there is a need for these languages that often don't get much attention to have materials available to them in their native tongue.

The fact of the matter is, LifeWay is incurring a cost to make these available.  We pay the cost of hosting the files and of delivering them (just because we're a non-profit doesn't mean that we get free internet bandwidth).  LifeWay pays the cost for meetings when we discuss plans for the products.  LifeWay pays for the time to create the PDF, to organize the process, etc etc.

It's a pleasure being able to see us take on a financial burden to ourselves in order to better equip fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and doing so in a way  that is comfortable to them, in their own language.  While we would never be able to do this for all of our products (we do need revenue in order to pay for product, authors fees, employee salaries, electricity and the like), it's great to see us be able to utilize digital delivery to do something like this.

Physical books in the various languages are also available at the discounted rate of $4.90.

LifeWay.com Free Sermon Helps and Craig Webb

One of my very first days here in the office, Craig Webb pulled me into his office to help with some graphics he was working on.  I was confused at what his intent was, until I found out that LifeWay.com/pastors offers a bunch of sermon ideas, outlines, graphics and corresponding powerpoints for free!

Part of Craig's job is to get sermon outlines from pastors across the nation and compile a resource bank of materials for them to use.  I was surprised that I had been working here for five years and never knew about some of the amazing materials we just give away for free.
