Friday is for Friends

Reggie McNeal

Reggie McNeal called this week. For those of you who don't know Reggie, you need to. He's a great brother with a passion for the good news. Reggie is writing another new book (isn't he always?). This next book will be focused on a mission-centered life. Reggie's most recent book is Get a Life, provocatively subtitled, "It Is All About You."

Steve Pike

It was great to hear from Steve Pike this week. Steve is Director of Church Planting for the Assemblies of God. The Assemblies of God recently elected new leadership. With that change, they are asking hard questions like, "how can we elevate the prominence of church planting in our movement?" I've had the chance to consult with the A.G. folks and recently spoke at their national meeting in Indianapolis.

You won't want to miss their conference in Surprize, AZ, at the end of November. Unlike so many denominations, the A.G. is not afraid of bringing in people from the outside to teach best practices. Although the web page just lists me and Steve Johnson, we actually will be hearing from Bob Roberts, Alan Hirsch, Mark Batterson, and other great communicators. And, it is open to all -- click here to register.

Several Foursquare friends touch based this week-- and I really appreciate these guys. Rod Koop, Director of Church Planting for the Foursquare Church and Aaron Suzuki, Church Planting Director for the Hope Chapel, dropped by the office. A couple of days later, Ralph Moore, pastor of Hope Chapel emailed.

The Foursquare Church is the only group (denomination) whose church planter peer support system proved to create statistically significant results. These guys love church planters. You can read about their system in the research here.

Michael Duduit

Michael Duduit came by from Preaching Magazine and we did a podcast. When it comes out, I will point you to it. I said some things that should tick off everyone with an opinion about preaching, so I don't know what I was thinking. Sigh...
