I mentioned earlier about Tadd Grandstaff, who Tom Brokaw thinks is both in the Emerging Church and a threat the Republican Party hegemony over evangelicals (particularly in regards to moral issues such as homosexuality).
I don't know about you, but when I think of Emerging Church, I think of that bastion of theological re-imaging, Liberty University.
That is where Tadd comes from: see the November newsletter of Liberty University Church Planting Center where they wrote:
L[iberty] U[niversity] grad Tadd Grandstaff took notes and learned well during his first 10 years in ministry. Following a 4 year stint in TRBC Youth Ministry, Tadd served at West Ridge Church in Hiram, Georgia for 2 years (under Sr. Pastor Brian Bloye, also a LU grad), then participated in 2 of West Ridge’s church plants.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... maybe they had another agenda in the report.

I guess if the church is confused about what exactly the emerging church is then we should only expect the world to be confused as well.
Driscoll's "three types" of EC churches that he explained at the Convergent Conference at SEBTS is very helpful in understanding the different streams of the emerging church.

reading between the lines...
i'm assuming your calling of lu as a bastion of theological re-imaging as tongue in cheek...
do you think nbc was trying to confuse the general public about religious right connecting grandstaff to liberty which connects him to falwell and the rr?

Ultimately, I think NBC had an agenda to show that the emerging church is moving away from the religious right. And, I think they are correct. I think it is sloppy to use Tadd to prove that point.

Brad, yes, that was tongue-in-cheek.

What is so unfortunate is that Tadd probably did not know he was speaking for the EC and Dr. Molher did not know he was speaking against Tadd who is not an EC. There was nothing that Molher said that Tadd would disagree with. I think there were many different agendas as some of the comments have pointed out but another was that all younger guys are against all the older guys which speaking from a younger, Liberty grad perspective is not the case at all.
