Candidates include (in order they were announced):
1. Bill Waggner.
2. Frank Cox.
3. and Avery Willis makes three (posted with his permission).
...and watch for Johnny Hunt's forthcoming nomination from Ted Traylor (also posted here with permission). (Updated: Here is the official announcement for Johnny Hunt.)
It should be a good year with so many godly men interested in leading this convention through challenging times. Pray for God's direction and guidance. I believe that God can bring us together and focus us on His mission.

He would be a great president of the SBC.

Thanks for lunch! I talked to a mutual friend today. Clint Clifton from Virginia said to write you a poem. Then explained to me how you dogged him out about writing you a poem. Good for you, Clint is such a woman.

Hasn't Wiley Drake announced as well? :D

If he did, I have not seen it. Do you have a link?

Ed, here's a link from ABP about Wiley's announcement. I don't have a direct link to him or his church, but this might help.

I see what you mean in the ABP story, but I can't find a formal announcment out there. Not sure how to handle that.

Michael, Huckabee would be good... nice to have a guy with a sense of humor.
Gary, it would be a crazy day is that ever happened. But, honestly, I would not be interested. Besides, everyone seems to be running... I may be the only guy to vote.

Maybe we should keep a list of who isn't running for SBC President! That list may be far shorter and easier to document!

Here are my top three reasons why Ed should be SBC President:
1) He doesn't want to be.
2) He's a normal guy who likes power tools, but unfortunately not sushi.
3) People follow and listen to Ed because they like and respect him, not because they are paid to do so.
Who's with me?

I second Michael's nomination!

if they allow non-SoBaps to vote, then ed gets my vote. (if ed refuses the nomination, then it has to be ron paul - he was entertaining.)

Steve Murrell: If the voting were in Memphis, then anyone (alive or dead) could vote (see: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1541411/posts)
My SBC candidate litmus test: If you want the job, you are disqualified. The only people who should be considered are the ones who God would have to drag kicking and screaming to do it.

Steve, the vote from a pentecostal megachurch pastor from the Phillipines will not help with my people. Grin.
And, thanks to all for the kind words.
