As a Christian, a researcher, a pastor, and a father I am very interested in the spiritual temperature of the younger generations. In surveys conducted by Lifeway Research we found that many have been getting it wrong concerning the younger unchurched.

In fact, 73 percent of unchurched twentysomethings consider themselves "spiritual" and would like to know more about "God or a higher supreme being." This is 11 percent higher than among unchurched individuals who are 30 years old and older. They are also significantly more likely to attend church or a small group than older, unchurched generations. This research is included in my newest book, Lost and Found: The Younger Unchurched and the Churches That Reach Them, co written by Richie Stanley and Jason Hayes. You can get some more numbers and thoughts from the authors of the book in this article at Lifeway.

Below you can check out a podcast where Jason Hayes and I discuss the younger generations and the churches that reach them. Give it a listen and share your thoughts in the comments.

I love this! I'm having a hard time finding your podcast on iTunes, though. Any help?

Hey Ed,
I just sent you a quick twitter note, but I was wondering if you have done any research on Canadian young adults? Perhaps you know of individuals that doing research or a direction you could point me to gain that information. I know "spirituality" in Canada is viewed a little differently than in the U.S., so curious how the stats would turn out.
Thanks Ed. Keep up the solid work. Saw you at Catalyst last year and loved the content. Praying for you bro.
James

I saw the tv show on the changing of worship. the Bible says we are NOT to be conformed to this world. Along with many other things . We are not to mix the Holy with the profane. The old path and the good way. How can I contact Jay Bakker ? Do you know. Gary 248 446 9506 Hope i hear from you.

Gary,

The old path is good. Agreed. Hopefully you mean the Biblical way, not just the "old" way which tends to be rooted in past culture rather than the word of God.

But, I do not have Jay's contact information. I have never met him.

Sorry,

Ed
