The Beginnings of a New Bible Study

Sometimes I really love my job.I love meeting new people. I love giving women (and men) a vision for reaching teen girls. I love being creative and thinking outside the box and dreaming and looking toward what could be. I love being around people who are passionate about reaching teen girls.

Yesterday was one of those days. I got to meet with a team of very talented people and dream about a new Bible study for teen girls. A Bible study that attacks a prevaling mantra that says, "I deserve." A Bible study that helps girls understand that yes, they are princesses endowed with great worth because they are God's beloved, but they are not on the throne. A Bible study that challenges girls to embrace humility instead of pride, servanthood instead of selfishness, meekness instead of aggression. A Bible study that is flexible enough to experience on a variety of levels and settings, from an overnight sleepover to an ongoing discipleship group.

The name of this new Bible study? Tossing Your Tiara: Embracing Humility in an All-About-Me World.

I can't wait to see where God takes this study. I can't wait for girls to begin to grasp their roles as light bearers and ambassadors to the world around them. I can't wait to watch as God begins open their eyes to the sneaky deceptiveness of the enemy who wants them to be less than God created them to be and to accomplish. I can't wait for girls to understand what it really means to be a daughter of God.

As the study unfolds, I'll keep you posted on the progress!

What do you look for in a Bible study? What elements, themes, or topics are important to you?

This is it, Pam! In my opinion, you're right on target...
My goal is to have our girls "swimming" in God's Word and not so focused on what they "deserve". Our study for the Fall has been entitled "A Royal Servant"... with, what sounds like, the same concept... to help our girls understand that as heirs of Christ, we are royalty... but with that Royalty comes specific obligations... which means "Serving the People"... I love it! I'll be the first to purchase this!! thank you for continuing on and for providing tons of resources for us!

Praying for you!
Leslie

I think this is a timely & much needed Bible Study. Today's teens believe that they are entitled and everyone owes them something. I would love to see a study that teaches them to serve and mirror Jesus' life example instead. Life is hard and reality is that they won't experience entitlement in their adult lives - nor is it fulfilling!

LOVE it!

As a teacher in our youth group and the wife of the pastor, I look forward to hearing more on this...We must teach our girls (as well as our women) that it is not about us. Our culture has handed us a lie that "we deserve" and "we have rights" yet as Christians, we lay down our rights and "what we deserve" at the foot of the cross. It no longer is about what we want but about what Christ wants. If Christiandom could ever grasp the truth that we must move from what we want, think and feel to what does God want, think and feel. It would revolutionize how we impact our world for Jesus Christ!!! Please keep me informed regarding this study...I am excited!!!

Looks fabulous! I look forward to having it in my hands, to use with our college and high school girls, but especially for my own sweet daughter!

This is great, Pam! Can't wait to see it. I agree with you totally! I've been searching the Scriptures lately and praying over this topic! We need a rich study for girls. They are hungry and want to know how the Bible applies to their lives. Thanks for tackling this!! Blessings! Jimmie

So excited : ) ....when can i purchase the study???

wow - i love it. absolutely love it!! can't wait to see it in completion!

A small group of six high school gals and I are studying "Esther" now. I've been praying for insight into what is next after we finish this study. These gals want to go deeper and desire to be accountable. This sounds wonderful. Looking forward to it.

Great concept! I love curriculum, but rarely use it as is. I love bible studies that give lots of ideas and resources so you can tailor it to your group.

One area I often struggle with is getting caught up in curriculum and the lesson and not making room for the girls to actually think through what they are learning. I would love ideas on how to get the girls really thinking and asking questions.

The other area I would like to see my girls growing in is their love for God's word. I have gained a passion for God's word through various Bible studies. I am constantly amazed by the Bible and how there is so much there to be uncovered. I grew up in the church, as have many of my girls, and thought I knew it all. I love digging deeper and seeing things that I never noticed before.

Looking forward to checking out the finished product!
