This has never happened before.
Due to the threat of inclement weather last night, church activities were canceled. Which meant that our huge Christmas celebration for our students at church didn’t happen. And for the first time in my four years of serving as a leader in my student ministry, I didn’t do a happy dance at the unexpected free time. I was genuinely disappointed that I wasn’t going to get to see the girls in my LifeGroup again before the new year!
Fortunately, some of them were able to get together for a Christmas brunch this past Saturday at my apartment, which will just have to suffice. I use the term “brunch” somewhat loosely. It started at 10:30 a.m. and was supposed to last until noon, but the girls didn’t leave until 3:30 p.m. I had a lot to do that afternoon, but all of a sudden, it didn’t seem that important. I really enjoyed getting to spend time with them (and our awesome girls’ minister!), and the comfort of being in a home fostered some really great conversations. I’ve never opened my home to the girls in my LifeGroup before, but after this experience, I look forward to doing it more often!
