Can a Marriage Survive the Holidays?

Got to try something recently that I've wanted to do all of my life - and would have "weenied out" had it not been for Selma, my encouraging (read: "insistent") wife. I took a 2-hour surfing lesson. On an overdue anniversary trip to Hawaii (our first, but aren't all trips to Hawaii overdue?), I found myself in Hanalei Bay with a 12-foot sufrboard. My instructor was (and is) the current long board surfing champion of the world. Just him and me. He was much more confident than I was that I could catch a wave. A Marriage Lesson from Joseph's Angel

Our pastor encouraged us, during this Christmas season, to look at Jesus' birth from Matthew 1 and 2 as well as Luke 2. It’s not bad advice. I’ve been doing just that and came across an interesting insight. In Matthew, Joseph has just gotten the word that Mary, his fiancé, is pregnant. I am sure Joe (sometimes I call him Joe) was beside himself with a thousand questions rushing through his head. I mean really, how would you feel if it had happened to you? In my case, the Lord would know He’d have to send down an angel to spell it all out for me. And that’s exactly what God did for Joe and this is where the story...

Share a "Christmas Marriage Moment" This Season

Take a moment this Christmas to remember the important things. I’m not referring to the most important aspect of the season. That would be Christ Himself. Perhaps you’ve heard in various ways through the years “Don’t leave Christ out of Christmas”. That’s an old but wise saying that needs to be heeded. In whatever way you choose to do acknowledge and worship Him, He needs to be prominent in all that takes place in your season for sure. Yet there are other parts of your life that are important as well. Let’s look at your marriage, for example. (After all, it’s why you are reading this blog, right?) Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to reaffirm your relationship to each other....
