What products did you find most helpful as the parent of a newborn? Any recommendations for our expectant parent readers or parents of newborns?

Marsha Garrett:

I am the mother of 16 month old twins. When they were newborns, my most used item was their Boppy pillows! They were a lifesaver. I would put them each propped up on one, and hold their bottles. Then prop one bottle while I burped the other baby. It was a way to keep them elevated so they could still keep drinking.

Lori:

I found "sheetsavers" to be the most helpful as a parent of a newborn. It was so much easier to toss those in the washer rather than having to go to all the trouble of changing bedding.

Jennifer:

Can't wait to check these products out.

Tori:

I found the stroller so important during fussy times.

Emily:

I used my set of burp cloths all the time- they are nice soft flannel and are so absorbant for all those spit up messes etc.. They are a lifesaver.

Rita Nolan:

Mine is one month old. I like the Ultimate Crib Sheets from Babies R Us, Boppy pillows (one straps around my waist if I need to move, the other stacks on top for just the right height), low-heat hair dryer for his tush on the changing table which also reduces fussiness, cloth cubby holes from Target that hang in the closet since we have no room for a dresser (each cubby is labeled with masking tape and marker), my glider (way more comfy than a rocking chair, esp. after my c-section), special bottles that minimize air bubbles, smalll tupperware containers so I can preportion my own meals and snacks for when I'm hurried, the book "The Mother's Almanac," and most importantly the video "The Happiest Baby on the Block" which every expecting parent should get ahead of time in case they have a colicky baby. I also think the state of Virginia's new parent kit we got in the hospital is wonderful. And that's my short list!

PS I don't need the prize, just wanted to share. Expecting moms should feel free to email me- I came up with a huge master list of things to do and buy for my girlfriend who is expecting, and I'd be happy to send you a copy.
