A giveaway! With real books!

Sophie - July 23, 2008

So Vicki Courtney, she is quite the writer. In fact, her book Teen Virtue Confidential recently won a Christian Book Award, which, if you ask me, is oh-so-sassy.

Because I don't know if y'all have been in a bookstore recently or not, but there are sort of a lot of books in there.Twelves of them, even.

But Vicki's book is so excellent that it stands to reason it was recognized. Teen Virtue Confidential offers "God-focused answers to real questions sent in from teenage girls," with emphasis on "The Future, Guys, Body Development and Sex, and Faith." And in addition to the great content, the design of the book will appeal to moms and daughters alike - it's modern, fresh, funky and fun.

So in celebration of Vicki's award and her phenomenal book, we're giving away ten (10!) copies of Teen Virtue Confidential. All you have to do to be eligible to win is to leave a comment. Just say hi. Or tell us a joke. Or share your new favorite color of lip gloss. We love variety.

This giveaway will be open until Monday, July 28 at 9 AM central, at which point we'll close comments and use random.org to select the winners.

Enjoy, y'all!

This giveaway is now closed.

Thanks, Ladies :-)

God bless, Sallie

Hi!

As Director of Women’s Ministries here at church, that sounds like a resource book for moms! Thanks for the info.

And my favorite lip gloss at the moment is—well, I’ve had it so long in my purse that the name has rubbed off!

Have a great day!

With a 15 year-old and a soon to be 12 year-old, this book couldn’t be more timely. I would love to be enterd.

Hey - speaking of lip gloss… When my daughter went to Prom the lady who did her make-up tried a tinted lip balm on her by Burts Bees… It was fabulous - the color was a deep color, but didn’t come of so deep on the kids lips… I bought two because I loved it so much!

Oh, did I mention I have two teenagers at home - both girls! Vicki HELP! I also have a teenage girl living with her mom… she is hubby’s baby girl.

Blessings.

One of my favorite jokes ever, from an 80’s tv show (see if you can guess the show):

There’s a cow & a pig. The cow jumps over the pig, and the pig says “You wouldn’t do that if it was summer.”

Also, my fave lipgloss color is anything that doesn’t make them look drippy. Because I was blessed in the lip department and that shiny stuff can be a little over the top. Neutral, matte-ish is my way to go.

Anne:

I have a 19 year old daughter with a new boyfriend who, at this point, is still a virgin, but thinks in today’s society it is unrealistic to remain one till marriage. I had her out of wedlock, but I married when she was 3 and I really want better for her. She has an 8 year old sister that looks at her as a role model.

We used to be very close, she told me everything, She even helped me set up my myspace and was my first friend…but

Honestly Vicki, we are on rocky ground, she moved out a year ago, she rebels against so much when we try to reach out to her, and I am terrified to reach out to her on this one. I’m afraid that she will lose this most precious gift that she has to give to her husband because I want her to keep it.

I guess I am looking for a miracle. This is the first real boyfriend she has ever had. He buys her dinner, treats her nice; she says it took them a week to kiss. I am not sure how she would react to the book if I gave it to her, I have tried giving her other religious material, including things on dating, and she accused me of thinking she was evil or trying to shove religion down her throat. She claims to be a Christian, was Baptized (without telling her dad and me) this past year, but her boyfriend is not a Christian, which is scary.

Ok, this is a lot to win a book; I think I want to win a week with you for my daughter and me. Maybe just advice?

Thanks for listening, and God Bless.

Kelli:

I would like to enter. six months until we have an official teenager. Yikes!

Barbara "BJ" Jones:

This is the first time I have logged into a blog. It is been interesting reading my way to the bottom of the list. I am a grandmother, soon to be a great-grandmother (yahoo!). I keep up with you “girls” and am going to make the Chattanooga event! Finished “Daniel” early this summer so I am gearing up for the Fall and what it brings from Beth or Priscilla!!?? Thanks for listening. BJ
