My two cents-ish
Sophie - July 30, 2008
I loved reading all of your suggestions and recommendations for Bible studies, and I thought I'd throw a suggestion in the ring because, well, I like to share.
(Total sidenote: earlier today I told my little boy that I wanted him to repeat something to his daddy that he'd said to me, and he looked at me for a second, sighed, and said, "OH, MAMA - ARE WE ALL GONNA TALK ABOUT IT OR SOMETHING? I GET TIRED OF ALL THE TALKING."
And what I wanted to say - but didn't - was "Son, you are an official resident of an over-communication zone, where no topic is off-limits and no conversation is EVER short."
The child comes from a long line of over-sharers. Bless his sweet little heart.)
ANYWAY, there's a new Bible study called Anointed, Transformed and Redeemed: A Study of David. It was filmed at Deeper Still in Nashville last September, and y'all, when I tell you that it was the most impactful weekend of teaching I have ever experienced in my life, I mean it.
The structure is clear and effective: Priscilla focuses on David's early life; Beth focuses on David's middle-aged years; and Kay focuses on the last part of his life. I think anyone would be blessed by the teaching from that particular weekend, especially if you're in a season where you know the Lord is calling you in a new direction (which is right where I was livin' last September).
There's not a doubt in my mind that you will be encouraged and convicted by what you learn. I cannot say that enough.
Have a great Thursday, everybody!

Sophie,
I enjoy this blog and I would love to know where this study you mentioned is available. I just finished “Stepping Up” by Beth Moore, and I really need to be in His word.
If you would be so kind as to direct me I would really appreciate it.
Loving Jesus Together,
Celeste

I attended that event, and the teaching was life changing for me! I’ll look forward to learning from it again.

That sounds like a great study. I was at that event, too, and the teaching has stuck with me in a powerful way. Oh, and the oversharing - we have that at our house, too! Only it’s me oversharing, and all the possessors of a Y gene at my house (three of them) bravely grinning and bearing it. Hee!

Wow — the Living Proof event this weekend was too amazing for words! I attended at First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, TN (just north of Nashville) with 7 women friends from my church. I was aware that Beth Moore events have had “simulcast” locations, from having attended the Deeper Still event in Nashville in Sept 2007 and knowing there was a simulcast location at the Curb Events Center once the Nashville arena was sold out. But this Living Proof event this weekend with 700+ simulcast locations was obviously a new turn of events, based on Paige’s comments on this blog.
Several times during the event, Beth made us aware of all the simulcast locations and the chance of technical difficulties (i.e., Satan showing up to spoil our annointed time!). But Saturday morning we learned that only two locations suffered signal interruptions the previous night, and only for a very brief time at that. Technical marvel? I think not. More like A God Thing.
Speaking of which, I wanted to share something that happened at the very end of the broadcast at my simulcast location. Travis and the group were nearing the end of their last song “In Christ Alone” (that song absolutely tears me up, and it’s really hard to sing your heart out when you’re crying, ya know??). When all of a sudden, the video froze and the sound stopped. Did we worry? No way — the entire sanctuary of women just finished singing the song a capella. Talk about a goose bump moment. Actually, it totally reminded me of the two Deeper Still events I attended in person (Nashville and Atlanta). One of the most powerful things to me was when Travis and the praise team stop playing their instruments and everyone is singing without music. Then the lights go down and without you noticing, they leave the stage and it’s just the 70,000 women in the arena singing in the near dark. What a God moment. And that’s how the Living Proof simulcast ended for us at the FBC Hendersonville TN. Whew.
Thank you, Beth Moore, for the message God has put in your heart to fire women up for Jesus. And thank you, LifeWay and the womens’ ministry team, for all the hard work.
