Hope

If you missed the interview that Steven Curtis Chapman and his family did with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America then you are missing out.

I can't even imagine what they are going through, but what an incredible testimony of the power of hope in an Almighty God even in the midst of tragedy.

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1

The Larry King interview is finally up on youtube.com as well. May God work through the tragedy to everyone who watches …

The Holy Spirit was all over The Larry King show last night, too. I was astounded by what God is doing for this family, and how they’re faithful to share it.

Thank you for linking this. This was amazing.

karilynn:

What an awesome tribute to God that the Chapman family gave in this interview. Lord, comfort them, help them to cling to the good memories they have, and help them to “Dance with their Cinderella’s” that they still have with them.

Kari:

I was absolutely touched by the statment “We grieve with hope!” What an awesome and a true statement! I can’t even fathom going through tragedy without the hope of Jesus and heaven!

I too blogged on this today. I was truly amazed by the Larry King program. The family is incredibly blessed with a tremendous faith. I can relate to the statement that Mary Beth mentioned of falling to the depths… but when you land it’s on solid (holy) ground. Amen sisters!

oh thanks a lot… decided to watch this at WORK.

I love how she shared so candidly from her “mother’s heart” as she called it the reality of wanting her daughter back. So real as anyone who has lost someone close to them, especially a child, knows. And yet, the other side of the same coin is that she knows by faith that her daughter is whole and that she will see Maria again.

Thanks for sharing this interview… I don’t have the opportunity to see things like this in the mornings.

I saw it and the Larry King Live interview. I cried like a baby during both. The interview with Larry King Live was incredible. The kids handled themselves with such grace and integrity. What a testimony of God’s grace. There’s supposed to be an article about the Chapman’s coming out in People magazine next week. Take care, Julie

I can only imagine what it must be like to lose a child in the spotlight like that.

Our family’s loss was in the papers and on the news briefly… But it was not a national news item. My son’s accident/death article was reprinted several times the week of the accident and the week he died. I remember putting him on no information status as I watched a television reporter walking through the ICU with a hospital escort.

It was hard to deal with all the news reports. I can only imagine what it must be like for them… I applaud their courage and their strength to share their story so soon after their loss.

Personally, I thought both interviews were wonderful, but with Larry King being a live show - it seemed less sensored and arranged. They are so strong! And way to go on the MSC tatoos Chapman’s. We had occasion to talk about getting tatoos in honor of our children at the bereaved parents support group. I opted out on the whole tattoo issue, but we came to the conclusions that if it helps, or brings you comfort and does not hurt yourself or others… then it is probably a necessary activity. My “Choice Comfort” was a Build-A-Bear Dog… A family from our church was recently on Life Today talking of their child’s drowning in their pool this past January. Just breaks your heart to see them hurting so badly, but their words of faith gives us so much HOPE! “They overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony…” Rev. 12:10

Blessings all.
