My provision
Melanie - October 19, 2008

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?"
Matthew 6: 25-31
Over the last few months as I've watched gas prices go up and the stock market go down, I've had moments of worrying what it all means. Will my family be okay? Do we have everything we need?
When I read this passage from Matthew 6, I am assured that we absolutely have everything we need and it is found in Jesus Christ.
Why should I worry? Instead I am reminded to "seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you".

The Lord impressed those verses on my heart this week too Melanie. I even took pictures of the wild flowers I saw on my walk and posted them with those verses. It is so comforting to know that He will always take care of us - no matter what the circumstances.

Thanks, Melanie. I have been trying not to fret this evening over these very things. Thanks, Sister!

Amen, Melanie! I read this blog post (http://cindybeall.com/?p=576) recently, and have started my own “God’s Provision Book” to keep track of just how faithful He is. And boy do we need Him! We’ve had a rough month, since my husband was laid off on 9/12, but we’ve been filled with hope each new day because of the Lord’s faithful provision.
Thanks for sharing this important encouragement from the Word.

Melanie,
Such a simple reminder, but in these complicated times it is so good to know that his yoke is easy and his burden is light.
These times have reminded me to be thankful of the little things AND I’ve been prompted not once but twice to “go back” and thank Him for things that He did for me that I may not have thanked Him for in the past.
That’s definitely going to be my next blog post, but I loved this gentle reminder to trust Him…He will provide!
Blessings, Dori
