Something to think about

Melanie - October 3, 2008

I'll be back next week to talk more about all the behind the scenes stuff at the "Five Conversations You Should Have With Your Daughter" taping. There may even be another caption contest in which we give away an array of fabulous prizes, otherwise known as a free book or two.

In the meantime, here's a quote from Oswald Chambers that I just read in Priscilla Shirer's "Discerning the Voice of God" study. It's really made me think about my ability to hear God's voice.

"What hinders me from hearing is that I am taken up with other things. It is not that I will not hear God, but I am not devoted in the right place. I am devoted to things, to service, to convictions, and God may say what he likes, but I do not hear Him. The child attitude is always 'Speak Lord, for thy servant heareth." Oswald Chambers.

I loved that quote and it made me think of all the distractions I deal with on a daily basis and we as women are pulled in so many directions. A distracted mind is not able to hear God or worship Him. I want to hear God and my prayer is, please God guard my mind, thoughts and help me to be aware of when I am distracted and when I am doing 1,000 things because there is no way I can do 1,000 things to the glory of God. Help to hear when you speak!

Have a great weekend! Love, Patty

Hi Melanie,

This quote from Oswald Chambers is just what I needed this morning to put the finishing touches on my lesson for my ladies Sunday school class! My topic this week is “When God Speaks” !

Thanks for sharing this. And I look forward to hearing more about the behind the scenes stuff next week!

I LOVE that! Thanks for sharing!

Mmmm…I love that. Printing and meditating on it and hopefully applying it to my everyday life, too!

Praying for you! Holly

Thanks for sharing…. That’s good.

Anna:

We’re completing that study at my church and it’s very good! I love hearing Priscilla speak at the Deeper Still events so we decided to give her study a try. What a blessing!

We often discuss the excellent quotes that are placed throughout the homework.

Doing her study also has me wondering about the baby and if she’s had it yet. If anyone knows, pass along the good news.
