Stepping out
Melanie - October 29, 2008
That's the countdown of how long until I leave for the Dominican Republic with Compassion. By the way, if you click "share" on that graphic, you can get the code to display it on your blog if you'd like.
Anyway, yesterday on my personal blog I wrote about a few of my fears as I get ready to go on this trip. I made the comment that it is definitely out of my comfort zone.
Then, this morning I opened up my "Discerning the Voice of God" Bible study and the topic was "God's Challenging Voice". As I read Priscilla's words I had no doubt that God was speaking directly to me.
"I find that His message challenges me because His purposes are always higher than mine. When followed in obedience, His Word causes me to step away from the comfort zone of my natural abilities and into the realm of His supernatural possibilities."
That's what this trip is for me. It's stepping out of the comfort zone of my natural abilities. My prayer is that everything we do in the Dominican Republic next week will bring glory to Him and that lives will be changed forever because of His mercy and goodness.
I'll be reporting live next week from the Dominican and I pray that his "supernatural possibilities" will be revealed.
In the meantime, what supernatural possibilities is He calling you to?

You know, sometimes it’s all I can do to get up in the morning, go to work, and end the day with a good attitude. So nothing super spiritual here. The only supernatural possibility I want is to enjoy my day!

I too am going on my first mission trip in early December. We’ll be heading to Puerto Rico to minister in a Women’s shelter and orphanage. Without a doubt this is God’s design and not mine! I am a comfort girl; there is no mistaking me for a risk taker. Your personal blog cracks me up about your trip. Thanks for the honesty. I can’t wait to hear what God does in and through you next week. I’ll be praying and reading your posts!

I don’t know exactly, I will have to pray and listen for God’s voice on that. I DO know that He has plans for me that are supernatural. So at the get go, I will just say, “Yes.” No need to think it over. If it’s what God is calling mw to walk in, then YES.
I am praying for you, Melanie, as you walk on the road and sit down to eat and lay down to sleep and minister the good things God has already planned. Praying for you and the whole entire team.

melanie, the study of pricilla’s that you are doing right now is the one i did from jan.-march of this year…the one that God used to tell me that i needed to homeschool my children. talk about getting out of my comfort zone! and i am thrilled to report that i obeyed Him and we are now a homeschooling family. if you would have walked up to me a year ago and told me i would become a homeschool mom, um, i would have told you that you had lost your mind…i was a card-carrying PTA member and weekly volunteer in my children’s classes at the elementary school we live nextdoor to. homeschooling was the farthest thing from my mind until i discerned God speaking to me— with the help of Priscilla’s blessed study!

Loved your post and God gave me a prayer for you that I posted on your blog.
What He is calling me to is so beyond my level of belief or what I can see on the horizon So right now, I’m believing Him, because it’s God size There is just nothing that I can do But, He is at work in me, and will show His power and might through and through.
