A virtual book club

Melanie - January 13, 2009

Some of you may remember that way back in October I went to Nashville to be a part of the taping for the "Five Conversations You Must Have With Your Daughter" Bible study DVD's.

The Bible study won't be out until late Spring, but the Five Conversations book is already available and I can't say enough good things about it. If you have a daughter, then I will tell you that this book is a must-read.

In fact, I plan to keep mine on my bedside table as a handy reference manual for the next 15-30 years.

But you know how sometimes you read a book and wish you could ask the author a few questions or continue the discussion? Well, Vicki Courtney is giving you the opportunity to become part of a community of mothers who are all trying to raise our girls the right way with the right values.

Head on over to the 5 Conversations You Must Have With Your Daughter Blog and become a part of the online book club. It started last week, but it's not too late to jump on in.

I’m definitely going to get the book, if not even do the study when it comes out. My little darlin is only 8… I’m savoring every conversation we have now. I can only imagine the ones to come!

Here’s a question for you: Is there anything like this out there for the mamas and sons? I have the Dr. Dobson book (haven’t read it yet), and the Preparing Your Son for Every Man’s Battle book (halfway through that one)… I’m trying to get prepared for the transition he’s about to go through. He’s only 11, but growing up SO FAST. Yesterday,I was rocking him to sleep in the nursery (not literally people) and today he’s wanting to go to Jarrod’s (JARROD’S!!) to get a present for a girl he likes at school. Where’s the time going???

Just curious… a lot of things out there on the shelves are for dads and sons… I’d love to find one for moms and sons too.

Take care! lavonda :)

For the last three years God has had me praises him each day. I praise him saying Forever praise Lord you are:( from Debbie Williams pray with purpose pray with passion A-Z.) I now have something to hold on to in light of who He is… For example: Lord you are Almighty. In light of Him being Almighty i am assured he is able to work mighty in whatever i am facing from day to day. This has transformed my inner-most being in all areas of my life. God has used this method as i pray for others and to reach out his love and to bring hope into other lives as well. I was privilege to see Debbie at a conference last year in Shellyville, Ky. I am so grateful for her teaching us about who God is in relation to His names. God has opened a new way for me to relate to Him in prayer and worship. Lord you are Wonderful and i praise you for your love, forgiveness and protection and so much more.

um, yeah. I’m going to get that book. Mine is only 1 year old but I think I need to have it now to be prepared and my 4 & 2 year old sons may need some insight in a few years (Lord, I pray that’s not the case!!)
