Just a few or five things

Melanie - June 19, 2009

Today is one of those days where I have a million thoughts running through my head, yet they are all a little discombobulated. So instead of trying to process them into any sort of smooth paragraphs complete with transitions, I'm going to go with a list.

1. While we're on the subject of iPhones, is anyone running out to get a new one today? And if you already have one, do you like it? It's time for me to get a new phone and I'm on the fence between the iPhone and the Blackberry.

I know all the cool kids have an iPhone, but frankly they frighten me just a little. At least Beth has the nerve to carry hers in a Ziploc, I'm afraid I'd carry my around in the box it came in.

2. Ever since my Deeper Still post on Tuesday, I've thought about that event and how much I got out of it. It's definitely been my favorite event to date. Do you have a favorite event?

3. Next weekend (June 26-27) I'm going to see Priscilla Shirer at Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin, TX. I can't wait to hear Priscilla speak. If you're anywhere near Austin you should totally make the trip.

4. I'm about to melt from the heat. Seriously, it rained for like five minutes today and I just wanted to go lay out in the middle of the street and soak up the rain. I don't know how I'm going to survive August.

5. Somehow I let us run out of M&M's and I have never been sadder about that than I am at this moment. I am in dire need of chocolate and there is nothing in this house except a Little Debbie Nutty Bar and I just can't go there.

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

  1. Love love love my iPhone, could not live without it now!
  2. I’ve loved each event I’ve been too, could never pick one.
  3. So jealous, if I didn’t have family in town, I’d head to Austin myself!
  4. I know! I was inside for the 5 minutes it rained and missed it. I was so sad.
  5. Got chocolate chips?? A handful stops my chocolate cravings and stops me from doing something insane like buying a candybar!

Several years ago there was a Living Proof Live for college women in Chicago. I’ve been to several Lifeway events and have never been disappointed, but the Chicago one was my favorite. Christy Nockles led worship and she, Beth and Melissa did a question & answer time. It was AWESOME!!!

OH! I remember the Great Hills Retreat—Beth was there and Elisabeth Elliot. Oh, have so much fun, Melanie. Priscilla is such a mighty woman of God—much like her Daddy, who I have learned under for years.

And August and Colorado are always nice…

I’d send you a truck load of M&M’s if I could.

Iphone!!!!! I got mine last week, because the old model was on such a good sale (due to the new one coming out today). It was such a good deal, I couldn’t resist. BUT, I almost got the Blackberry Bold since I was already used to my Blackberry Pearl. I am SO glad I got the iphone. It isn’t perfect and it does function differently than the Blackberry, but it is so much fun and does so many cool things that you will NOT regret it. Go for it. I can’t imagine ever getting anything but the iphone again! Just be sure that you have no other plans the day you get it, or for a few days afterward. I’m just saying, it is hard to put it down until you learn the bells and whistles!! (and, so far, I find the silicone sleeve is plenty to protect it as long as it lives in a safe place in my purse - I find most of the leather cases too cumbersome!).

Miriam:

Totally go for the iPhone. There are too many cools apps for the iPhone (or iTouch) that they will keep you busy. Here are a few: Weather, Bible Study (By Mantis), Bible verses - you can highlight, bookmark a verse, Facebook, Twitter, Budgeting app, games, Task reminders and the list goes on and on.

If you let your daughter play with it - she’ll have fun with children free games.

Hey gal - I waited a couple of days to comment - just in case I decided to box up the new iPhone and return it to Apple. NOT! Love it. I found some iPod “socks” that are quite the fashionable accessory. Slip the phone in the “sock” and tuck it away in your handbag! Go for it! If you don’t have one by Greensboro Deeper Still, I’ll be happy to show you my ‘phone in sock’ when we cross paths for the event! ~ Pam
