Just wondering
Melanie - October 1, 2009
I just got back from my church this morning where I'm participating in a womens' Bible study. In the past I've always done a Bible study with a group of my friends, but our schedules are all so different these days and it just wasn't going to work out for us to all meet together.
But I'm excited about meeting with a new group of women because I love studying God's word with different people and hearing their thoughts and insights. Plus, they serve food at the meetings. So, total score.
Anyway, I loved our meeting this morning. We're doing "Anointed, Transformed and Redeemed" which is the study from Deeper Still Nashville '07. It rocked my world today.
And it made me curious to know what other studies y'all are doing right now. What are you studying and do you love it? What are you learning? Inquiring minds want to know.
Yes, I'm nosy. I own it.

I am doing Esther right now!!!
I am REALLY learning so much about how when it seems like God’s hand isn’t there, OH HOW IT IS! And that sometimes it is tough being a woman! :)

I’m doing Laurie Cole’s study on Ecclesiastes called “There is a Season.” It’s the second Laurie Cole study we’ve done. We just did Beauty by the Book. Fascinating to do these back to back. After studying Proverbs and then turning the VERY NEXT page and reading “Meaningless!!”, it makes you really think.

I am doing Believing God (for the third time) with my Bible Study group. This week I am resting in the fact that I am who God says I am.

We are doing Esther, and we have about 40 ladies attending. We started out a few years ago with about 15, and now we have grown to around 40. A large percentage of our increase are young ladies (20’s). It just goes to say We Worship an Awesome God.

Several friends and I are going to begin Lysa Terkuerst’s (might have misspelled her last name) new book, “Becoming More than a Good Bible Study Girl”. We are going to work through it like a study.
I will let you know how it is…

We’re also doing “Anointed, Transformed and Redeemed” and it is awesome. Today we are viewing Session 4 and the homework this past week has been amazing.

I am doing “Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed” on my own right now! I was at Deeper Still Nashville in 2007 and it made SUCH an impact on my life then…and the expanded study, plus hearing the speakers again, has been AMAZING! I’m still on Priscilla Shirer’s lessons and WOW she is not pulling any punches! LOVE her!

Our Women’s Bible Study group is doing Kay Arthur’s Precept study on Covenant. She is so good, and I especially LOVE her late eighties/early nineties hair and clothing!

I took the CDs from “Annointed, Transformed, and Redeemed” on a solo road trip last weekend. One sentence Kay Arthur said about forgiveness is still rocking my thoughts. Good stuff.
Our group is working on “One Month to Live” by Chris and Kerry Shook.

We’re also doing “Anointed, Transfored and Redeemed.” We watched the fourth session on Wednesday night. I’m really liking it. I haven’t gotten to go to a Deeper Still conference yet, but this study is getting me really excited to go to Deeper Still in December in OKC.

Call some of us crazy, but we are all over the country, ok mainly southeast, and doing Priscilla’s One in a Million online together. A fancy smart siesta started a forum for us to go to. Kinda cool huh?
So…how’s that for fun technology AND Bible study?

We are doing Beth Moore’s Esther. Let me just say that weeks 6 and 7 are rocking my world right about now. :-) This Word is relevant and authentic and a salve to my spirit.

I am doing Everloving Truth by Voddie Baucham. It is a POWERFUL study about standing up for an unpopular truth in today’s culture! Honestly it is kicking my tail ‘cause it is convicting! But totally worth it!

I am doing Living Beyond Yourself: Exploring the Fruit of The Spirit, with a large group of women at our church.
This is my third Beth Moore Study and I am loving it. Every year I think this is the best study I have done yet. They’re always so timely to whats going on in my life.
We’re on week four of Homework—I have learned so much already.
What has stuck out to me most so far is that;
Hardships in life bring me closer to himself.
Forgoing my rights and choosing instead to be filled with his spirit-surrendering those rights to him and asking him to replace them w/ a supernatural work of his spirit.
Surrender is a daily choice.
Love covers a mulitiude of sins.
I need to love the unlovely.
I am His treasured posession.
I want o be yielded and stop grieving his spirit.
In him I have everything I need to live a victorious life.
Everyone no, matter how long you have been a Christian needs to do this study!!

I am doing One in a Million by Priscilla Shirer and is it awesome? Wow! This Bible study was so ordained for this season of my life. Ladies, if you need a study, this is the one to do. Priscilla is a great Bible study teacher.

I completed Beth Moore’s Esther study over the summer with a friend. Currently, I am in Bible Study Fellowship and this year we are studying the book of John. We started mid-September and are just finishing chapter 1. There is no telling right now where this study is going to take me. But I’m looking forward to the ride!

We are doing Jennifer Rothschild’s Me, Myself, and Lies with our young women’s (20s & 30s) group at FBC, Van Buren, MO. I didn’t realize my thought closet needed a makeover until now! LOVE it!

We are doing He Speaks to Me with Priscilla Shirer. A great, thought-provoking, challenging study.
We did Annointed, Transformed, Redeemed last summer and loved it. The Deeper Still conferences have all been quite far away from us, so my sweet Bible study ladies and I LOVED having the opportunity to participate this way.
