Oh yes he did

Sophie - December 9, 2009

One of the highlights of any Deeper Still is the panel Q&A on Saturday afternoon.

Kay, Beth and Priscilla sit back, relax and answer questions, and at every single Deeper Still I've attended, I have laughed until I cried.

This past Saturday was no exception.

At one point Priscilla read a question about marriage, and as Kay was answering, she mentioned that in this economic climate, when lots of men are out of work, it's very important that wives make a conscious effort not to let intimacy suffer. Kay cited several verses of Scripture, and she went on to say that it when a husband isn't working and isn't getting that reinforcement of worth that most men get from their jobs, then he needs to be reminded that he matters. And for a wife, that may mean upping the intimacy ante - making a conscious effort to let her man know that he's very much still a man.

(Did y'all like how I danced around all the touchy terminology in that last paragraph?)

(You can rest assured, however, that I am beet red just from typing this.)

Anyway, a couple of minutes after Kay encouraged the women in the audience to be mindful of the physical needs of our husbands - and to be especially mindful if our husbands are going through a tough time professionally - Priscilla's husband Jerry, who works with his wife every single day in their ministry, stood up on the front row and held up a sign.

I know it's blurry - we were laughing SO HARD - but can you see what his sign says?

UNEMPLOYED.

I think, based on Kay's challenge, Jerry may have just fired himself.

That is too funny. Of course, if it had been my husband, I would have just died right there. Would have prayed for the floor to swallow me up and been 50 shades of red the entire time. It was funny though:)

Myriam:

Oh. Thanks for clarifying. I’ve other pics from Twitter holding the sign but didn’t know what it was in referenced to.

That’s hilarious.

Myriam

Susan Clark:

Thank you for all the backstage and on stage information. It is amazing the things Kays says.

Kesha Royster:

I almost fell out of my chair laughing!!!! I needed that life..although i’m not married “YET” , I will keep that nugget of wisdom for future use!!!

oh my! This is too funny! I can only imagine how funny it was in OKC!

Dang, that’s funny!

I love them!

So cute!

Oh my sweet mercy, girl. I was laughing and crying. Later that night when I met Jerry, I said, “My husband can help you find a job.” Jerry’s reply? “Not yet, friend. Not yet.”

Love it.

Truly HIL-AIR-I-OUS!!! He was precious and she absolutely lost it! We in the audience LOVED it! And…I’m pretty sure she led him to believe that he could expect some hanky panky just for his nerve :o)

Seriously though, I love that God has Jerry and Priscilla working together as a team in ministry. It’s definitely unusual for a man to be in women’s ministry, but she has an inescapably obvious calling on her life. She teaches with such power that you can feel the Holy Spirit. I’ll definitely be praying God’s protection over their marriage, knowing they’ve put themselves on the line to impact others for Christ. May we all be faithful to pray for those on the frontlines of ministry! And…may we take care of the marriages God gives us :o)

Jerry is a great sport! That was a hilarious moment…the perfect punchline to a funny conversation! I really appreciate the ladies for tackling a tricky subject in front of an arena of women…we need the encouragement and laughs to keep things light and in perspective. Thanks!!

I’m not even married, but that is the most hilarious thing I’ve read all day. HILARIOUS!

Suzi:

Oh my word! That is TOO funny!!!

Priscilla:

Just for the record - JERRY STILL HAS NOT FOUND A JOB!

Priscilla

Oh my goodness! That is absolutely HILARIOUS! A positive spin on job loss for sure! Have great day in our Lord Jesus ladies!

Oh - ya gotta love it! That is great! I could SO see my husband doing something like that. Hey - is there a blog post of the Q&A? I’d love to read it.

EJ:

While I’m not married yet, I know God is preparing my man for me and me for him. I now have a new qualification I will be looking for…humor like Jerry. That was fantastic! Not any guy would have that kind of confidence…I mean to stand up in a room fool of women like that is just hilarious. :)
