Thanks for the memories

Melanie - March 11, 2010

Since this weekend is the very first Living Proof Live event of the year, I've been thinking about the LPL's I've been to over the past two years. Each one comes with its own set of memories and copious notes in my hot pink journal. And each one has taught me something about God that I didn't know before or maybe just hadn't really settled into reality for me before that moment.

So, what I would love to know today is if there is a Living Proof Live moment that stands out in your memory? It can be anything from a sweet time with the friends that were there with you to something that Beth said that rocked your world. Or maybe it's a song that Travis and the Praise Team sang.

Or maybe it was that time when you ate a delicious plate of barbecued shrimp at that Cajun restaurant in New Orleans. Wait, that might just be me.

And now I'm wondering what kind of food they have in Canada. I'm sure if Sophie and I were going to be there we would manage to locate the only Mexican food restaurant in a 1,000 mile radius and then act surprised that the food wasn't that good.

So now I have two questions: 1. What is your favorite LPL memory? and 2. What is the regional fare of Canada?

Thank you in advance for helping me out.

One of my favorite moments had nothing to do with the teaching (though it was heart changing…a God who measures everything says His love for me is measureless. Whoa!). Beth walked though the gathered gals, coercing many to share their snacks with her. Then she happened on a group of sweet Canadians and spent the next few minutes with a Canadian flag stuck up in her hair. It was silly and fun and real and precious!

LPL San Antonio - because we got to meet so many fun people and also got to ask a bunch of women about how they slept the night before.

And LPL New Orleans - in addition to the barbecued shrimp, WHICH WERE PERFECTION, I loved the reminder that we need people in our lives who are in our face and in our business.

Mmm, Canadian fare, eh?

Beaver Tails (Yummy deep fried pastry topped with cinnamon and sugar, lemon, jam or any other number of delicious toppings.)

Poutine (Fries, cheese curds and gravy. What’s not to love?)

So wishing I was making the short trip this weekend, but family commitments prevail. Welcome, though!

Many blessings and good luck on the Mexican hunt!

LPL-Little Rock. In Christ Alone. It was the first time I ever heard it and I had no idea how God would use that conference and that song for the 5 years since. I never cease to be amazed by the truth in those lyrics.

WendyB:

LPL for Ministers’ Wives in Nashville last year. The whole weekend was God-kissed, right down to getting to witness to my shuttle driver and gift her the beautiful hardcover book that Beth gave us all. Most touching moment - hearing all the women singing “In Christ Alone” - most of us were sobbing, but it was still so powerful and beautiful.

Canadian food? Haven’t been there since I was a child, but I do remember they had plastic bags of milk in the stores and you had to slide them into this holder to pour it. Fascinating to my two brothers who wanted to see what would happen…..well, never mind.

We’re a fairly diverse nation up here, so I’d hesitate to try to give a short list of Canadian food. You’d be honour bound to try the Tim Horton’s coffee though - there’s an urban myth that they put something addictive in it which is the only way to explain why there are more Timmie’s than private residences in Canada. Also because I love you and Sophie I would highly recommend that you stay 14 metres away from Canadian Mexican restaurants at all times!
