LPL Grand Rapids - were you there?
Sophie - May 24, 2010
In the midst of last week's craziness, we completely forgot to do a roll call for Living Proof Live in Grand Rapids. I thought about it on Friday night, but at that point the attendees were probably well into their third song and polishing off the popcorn and Skittles that they bought for dinner once they arrived at the arena.
Not that I'm speaking from personal experience or anything. Of course.
Anyway, if you were at LPL in Grand Rapids, would you let us know in the comments? Travis tweeted that it was "one of the best ever," so I'm excited to hear more about what happened. What did God teach you this past weekend? What were your "take aways" when it was all said and done?
See y'all in the comments!

Travis was right! LPL was incredible. Using a fable from Judges 9, Beth taught about how we were created to rule, as seen through God giving man dominion over the creatures of the earth. But even more, we were created to be ruled. There is something inside us that seeks to be caught up in something bigger than ourselves, to forget about ourselves and to submit to a king. We get into trouble when we seek all sorts of things to be master over us: religion (without saving faith), indulgences such as food or sports (when they are in excess), intoxicating things that we allow to change our very personalities like alcohol and drugs, and even the thorns, which are very happy to rule over us, such as bitterness or anything that is just irritating to us. God alone is our king! He alone is worthy of our worship. It is only when we submit to His rule that we are free!
Of course, there was so much more, including incredible worship from Travis and his team, singing Zaccheus Was A Wee Little Man, Beth’s funny stories (although I just realized she did no say ONE WORD about her HAIR! - that’s a first!), and pictures of her sweet family.
Beth’s teaching and getting more than half way through David Platt’s book Radical, which you recommended a few weeks ago on your blog, did such a work in me that I told my husband that I feel like I got my spiritual mojo back! I am praising God!!!

It was indeed incredible!! The worship was blessed, Beth’s teaching was as inspiring and powerful as ever, and the Holy Spirit’s presence was so warm and mighty all at the same time. I attended with a large group, but I was so blessed to spend the time with my young adult daughter. What a sweet time we had as we laughed, cried, worshipped, and grew together. I was sorry when it was over but am now thinking about the trees in my life and what God is teaching me.

I’m chiming in a bit late! I always forget to check this site!!! Shelli did a great job of describing the content. It was a great event and I’m so glad I went. I wasn’t originally planning to go because a ticket wasn’t really in our budget (hubby is unemployed) but a sweet friend asked me to go w/her and offered to buy my ticket. Then SHE wasn’t able to attend because it coincided with her becoming a new grandma! I hesitated going by myself, but was so glad I did. Everyone was so friendly and I met two other ladies in line right away who were also attending by themselves (we shared an umbrella!). I sat with one of them (we lost the other on our way to the seats!!) for the entire event and we went to lunch afterward. I was blessed in so many ways that weekend! And then I showed up in Beth’s vimeo photo montage! How cool is that?! I wrote a comment on the LPM blog telling Beth that she left out one important point (branch) in her illustration….#8 “Some Trees Produce Nuts”…doesn’t that describe all of our families? Loved her message!!

Yes, I was fortunate to be one of the 7,300 women and a few brave men who spent some precious hours worshiping our King. I will never look at trees the same! I had been looking forward to this for so long! I attended my first Beth Moore bible study last summer.I fell in love with Beths love for God while studying Esther. One night after hearing…what does the Lord have for you in such a time like this?- I googled Beth, found lifeway & living proof. I got on my knees before bed and prayed Lord, use me however you want. Before I even awoke the next morning, my Teaching Leader from my bible study called and left me a message about a pilot program for the under 2s and do I feel God may want me to serve as a childrens leader? Yes, I think so :) I attended the GR conference with my co leader the week before our last day at bible study with our under 2s class. What an amazing time we had together. We sang until our voices were hoarse, we prayed with our hands streched out, we laughed & we cried, and we experianced the fellowship of the 7,300 and the Holy Spirt. I heard God say to me through the message and the singing, “I love you. Lay your heavy burden at the foot of my cross and let me take & transform the thing you dont even want to think about, into something glorius. I think what made the conference SO MUCH MORE SPECIAL was singing with the Praise Brand. The songs led you on a journey with the message that caused my heart to sing out to God my Redeemer in joy and freedom. “He loves me, OH HOW HE LOVES ME!” Lord willing, I will be in Chicago in September, singing until the whole world hears! To God be the Glory!
