Summer Bible Studies

Melanie - May 12, 2010

My Bible study group at church finished Priscilla Shirer's One in a Million study a few weeks ago. I loved it so much and am going to write more about it in the next day or so. I'm still wrapping my mind around a lot of it and letting it sink in.

We're taking a break over the summer and won't be doing a formal Bible study. I'm still working through (and catching up) on reading through the Bible in a year, so I plan to use this summer to really focus on that. Especially because I still have to get through the minor prophets and that's going to take some dedication and tenacity.

What about you? Is your womens' ministry or small group doing a Bible study this summer? I'd love to know which one because I am curious. Which is just a nicer way of saying I'm nosy.

We are breaking with tradition and not doing a women’s study - instead, we are going to go through Francis Chan’s “Forgotten God” book. We’re excited to learn more about the Holy Spirit this summer! In the Fall, we will get back to our Beth Moore studies!

We are starting Francis Chan’s “Forgotten God” this Sunday! On my own I’m currently going through “No Other Gods” by Kelly Minter. It’s good. So good.

Mary:

Hi Melanie, Could you give me more info on the One in a Million study. We are planning our next study and I have’t heard of this one. We just finished Esher, and need to take a break from Beth (even though I love her). Wehave done Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed. Any other studies you would recommend? Our women’s Bible study does usually 2 or 3 studies a year, depending on their length. Blessings

Kari:

We are doing a book as well for study this summer….”Girls Gone Wise in a World Gone Wild” by Mary Kassian. Looking forward to it! We are currently finishing up Kelly Minter’s “Love, Loss, and Legacy” - great study as well!!

I just finished One in a Million too and like you, I’m still wrapping my head around it all. It’s like it was tailor made just for me…

I’m going to lead Anointed, Transformed & Redeemed this summer. We’re also offering Beth Moore’s The Patriarchs and Francis Chan’s Forgotten God!

I have to keep studying through the summer or I’ll lose what little discipline I have!!!

I will be looking into One in a Million—we love Priscilla Shirer. For the summer we are doing Faithful, Abundant, True starting June 1…really looking forward to it!

Paula:

We’ll be doing Kay Arthur’s “Lord, Teach Me to Study the Bible in 28 Days.” Just finished the Genesis Part 2 (Precept Upon Precept) this spring.

kim:

We will be taking part in a special summer bible challenge called “Firstfruits: A Spiritual Transformation Exercise.” This study was developed by Kimberly Teamer, and it is scheduled to start in June. I can’t wait!
