This doesn't seem like a resource for today's Worship leader.
How is this project going to reach the lost? What is it going to do outside of the church? This seems like a lot of money going towards an internal prize vs. and external prize.
Good question, Mr. Unknown.
I will tell you that this thought has been on our minds. While "worship" is the action of the believer, their act of worship serves as witness to the importance of their relationship with God.
What we're attempting to do with the Worship Project is to make the execution of the musical portion of each ministry so simple and effective that they're available to do more of the evangelism that they are called to do, and that the worship participants are inspired to follow the Great Commission, baptizing and making disciples.
As I look at this, a few questions come to mind.
Basically:
Who is the intended target of the songs - today's culture, or the culture of last century?
Given typical pricing structure of Lifeway's resources (and the fact that many of the songs are public domain), how much of it is going back into missions and ministries?
Besides a smattering of new songs thrown in with a ton of old songs, presentations on the computer (which we've already had for years), and an obviously very expensive infomercial, what really sets this resource apart from what is already available to us as worship leaders? or phrased a bit differently, What does your program accomplish that can't be accomplished with Media Shout or Easy Worship?
Will the Carolina Panthers pull it together this year?
How do you know that Mr. Unknown is really a Mr. and not a Mrs.?
I really want to give you guys the benefit of the doubt here because if it really is a useful tool I'm all for it. That is why I am excited to see what you guys have to say this weekend at the White Oak Conference Center in South Carolina.
I'll be the really cool guy with the clothes and the hair :-) .
