Have you been to the KNOWN website yet?  No?  Then you might not know we're offering a free sample of our Midweek resources.  By downloading the sample, you get to check out some of the stellar visual elements created by our graphic artists here, as well as - of course - a sample of our mid-week lesson which includes a plethora of ideas and a solid outline for your teaching time (and, of course, if you like the mid-week resources, the whole set can be purchased here).

I've been quite impressed and excited about the response we've gotten about the KNOWN resources.  (This is where I get to do a shoutout to one of our twitter friends, Matt Henslee.)  In a recent chat, Matt told me that "KNOWN overall has revolutionized our Student Ministry."

Matt is a user of the digital bundle we offer, and loves the incorporation of the mid-week event with the Sunday School materials - and his teachers love it too.  When we put the digital bundle together, we were really hoping to be able to reach not just students, but to create a resource that could connect with the myriad of digitally-savvy youth teachers out there; it's conversations like those through twitter with Matt that lets me thing we did it right.

For any of you who are using the KNOWN downloads, please feel free to let us know what you're enjoying in the resources, and what we can improve!

(And, if you were wondering, the KNOWN 02 digital bundle is available here!)

KNOWN Fall 08 Digital Downloads

|

On August 1st, the new KNOWN site went live!  KNOWN is the new student Bible study series LifeWay is producing.  In an effort to give users more accessibilty, the resources are also available as digital downloads.  We had a few snags getting everything up and running correctly (it's technical mumbo-jumbo, but these products are entered into our back system a touch differently than our previous digital products, so we had to make some adjustments) and we're proud to be able to send you that way!

I also want to make sure I mention the free downloadable products available from the actual KNOWN site.  Each session has complimentary Insights (Biblical commentary and application materials) and Options (creative teaching ideas).  There's even a free bonus session for Thanksgiving.

The Student department has gone out of their way to make the KNOWN product have some strong digital resources, and I'm proud to have been a part of this process!

BlueFishTV Videos

|

I am happy to announce that our first wave of BlueFishTV videos are now available for purchase through LifeWay.com!

The student publishing area of LifeWay have partnered with BlueFishTV to make applicable videos available to purchase from LifeWay for use with our upcoming KNOWN materials.  These videos are standard definition and WMV file format.  You can view the current selection here.

In the last video about KNOWN, I got to talk with Scott and Jeff about the general student strategy for KNOWN.  This time I got to sit down with Rick Prall - the editor - and Mike Wakefield - the product manager.  Rick and Mike did a great job of introducing me not only to the KNOWN product, but all of the history, research, and testing that went into the product.

This was my own personal first look at the KNOWN materials and I think you'll hear in my reactions how impressed I am with it.  The student team has made some great choices and have developed a truly creative piece that fits with student culture that's out there right now.  It really is unlike anything LifeWay has done before and anything else I'm seeing in the student realm.

What I love about the KNOWN team is that they aren't afraid to take risks.  It's a small thing, but even moving away from a quarterly student book to a monthly one is a huge change for us.  And once you open the book, it's appearant that these guys really nailed it on what a student learner piece should look like.

I'll be honest; the point of this interview, from my end, was to promote the upcoming KNOWN resource coming from the student department here at LifeWay.  But these guys - even though they're in charge of that launch - didn't care about getting that message out.  They wanted to get the message of what they are passionate about (student ministry strategy) out.  And so, that's what we talked about.

This was also a learning experience as an interviewer, because I was determined to get at least a mention of the product in at the end, and tried to force a segue and, being the honest guy he is, Jeff called me out on it.  He knew what I was doing and was trying to get at, but he did not like the implications of my segue, so he argued about what I had actually said.

It was awesome to interview two people with so much knowledge in their field, and the evident passion they have for equipping the local church with the best possible knowledge, strategies and resources for understanding youth today.  This is a must-watch if you are involved in youth ministry.
